Hello All

I have booked two upcoming flights from SYD with ANA and Air Canada as they both fly direct to Tokyo and Vancouver.

Is there or what is the best way to get the earned points /SC from these flights back to my velocity account

Cheers

Neither of those airlines is a Velocity partner, so assuming the flights you have booked are marketed by ANA/Air Canada (i.e. the flight numbers have NH (ANA)/AC codes), you can't earn Velocity SCs and you can't directly earn Velocity points.*

However, as both of these airlines are Star Alliance members, you could credit the points from these flights to KrisFlyer (Singapore Airlines), and then transfer from KrisFlyer to Velocity. However, it's worth noting that a lot of flights don't earn many KrisFlyer miles - especially discount economy flights with partner airlines. Furthermore, when you transfer from KrisFlyer to Velocity, you only get 1 Velocity point for every 1.35 KrisFlyer miles. In other words, it might be barely worth the effort, but it really depends on fare classes booked etc.

* You can also book certain Virgin Australia codeshare flights (i.e. flight numbers with a VA code) that are operated by Air Canada. On those flights, you would earn Velocity points, but not SCs.

The only way would be to add a KrisFlyer number to the booking then transfer those to Velocity when they post (minimum amount you can transfer to VFF is 5000 points).

Velocity points can only be earned directly on AC flights booked with a VA flight number (only LAX-YVR/YUL/YYZ).

Have the details of VA-AC partnership been announced? Still very hard to find accurate info.

Edit: aha, already mentioned.
((Put them into a KF account, and then transfer that, with 5k KF points to your VFF account.
I am doing this with the (Air)NZ points earnt into my KF account, then plan to transfer than into VFF later on.
AC points can be earnt with VFF, but not SC, or something like that, or maybe they haven't even got to that stage of twinning their FF systems yet.))
ANA is not in any programs with VFF.

I don’t think so. It was supposed to be announced “later during 2017” but there has been nothing announced since AFAIK.

As posted above, right now you can earn Velocity points on VA codeshares operated by AC, but not on AC marketed flights. (Correct that you don’t earn SCs either way).

Well that still says "Details for additional member benefits will be released in the coming months.", which I think has been there for a very long time (and relates to the 'later in 2017' message which was given at the time of the original press releases). I'm guessing it's either been forgotten about or further partnership has been abandoned?

And if you click on the "Frequent Flyer" tab it says "Velocity is currently in the process of implementing a new partnership with Air Canada. If your flight is operated by Air Canada with a VA flight number, you are eligible to earn Velocity Points (not Status Credits) for travel from 1 June 2017."

I would agree that it seems to have just been forgotten about.
