Hi All,

When logging into my AMEX charge card account there is an offer for 10% off Travel Insurance, (issued by Allianz).
Rate is quite reasonable for my upcoming holiday, just wanted to know what are peoples experiences with this insurance?

Note: This is not the included insurance that some cards provide, this is fully comprehensive paid travel insurance.

I think many of us would not buy it on principle. After they enhanced away any glimmer of useful insurance, then upped the fee, it is pure cheek to offer "10% off".

Check out travel insurance direct instead.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm using them. Had one claim and it went through just fine. I believe this is one of the few (the only other one I know of is Chubb corporate TI - would be happy to be advised of any others that do) that cover your travel that's purchased on frequent flyer points. They have a formula to calculate an equivalent ticket price based on class of travel.

Most (of the commonly recommended policies on here) do, to be honest. Columbus, TID, QBE all do IIRC. Most have a formula in the PDS. I know this because when Amex changed the insurance, I actually read through 12 complete pds for an upcoming first class trip on points, which required insurance that would cover it. The limiting factor was delay coverage and overall cancellation cost normally, rather than not covering points flightsz
