Can someone please share the application form?

When i called i was told no we dont do companion cards anymore.

You might want to hold fire until tizey reports back, if they said that they don't do companion cards any more, there's a chance you might take a hit in credit check for nothing, as they do run a credit check on you before giving you the Platinum Reserve.

I am hoping it isn't a new 2018 policy, the Platinum Charge card has undergone fair few devaluation already and I don't know how they could justify a $1200 annual fee on the card if they take away the Platinum Reserve. ($1200-$300 travel credit = $900, and $900 for Hotel gold status + Priority Pass is just too much imo)

FYI - if you 're-enrol' into SPG, you'll trigger a re-qualification of Gold Status and it will remain on your account to Feb 2020. Not sure of the benefits yet, but I'm hoping it gets me something using up a few Marriott 7 night certificates over the next few years.

Why is this necessary? Don't you remain Gold for as long as you hold the Amex Platinum?

Ah that’s makes sense. Sorry didn’t realise you’re about to cancel the Platinum. Although I thought they’d cancel your Gold status if you cancel your card…

I originally had SPG gold with my platinum - cancelled the plat charge in July 17, SPG gold remained. Enrolled for SPG gold as a supp to Mrs Tizeys Plat Charge, and it requalified me to gold status for 2018, which they say gives you until Feb 2020 (this year as gold, then full next year as gold, then ends in Feb following year).

Seems amex operators officially have no idea.

Plat Reserve sitting in our mailbox tonight. Card activated, but couldnt link to same login as Plat Charge for some unknown reason. Very frustrating.

That’s interesting SPG had told me AMEX review them on a monthly basis so when you cancelled your card Amex would stop paying SPG. Good to know it’s not true.

Ultimately, I renewed my Plat Charge. Don’t use it as much now I have Explorer. The travel credits help with the cost (hopefully the Platinun Rwserve companion deal continues) as well as the statuses like SPG.

Congrats, looks like the crisis is averted! So they don't even know that the new cards team has approved your card?

I have a feeling something was entered wrong off her application - she had to activate by authentication code sent to her email as her birthday didn't match... Somehow.

No arguments from me. Got a surprisingly good limit too which will be very handy.

Hi was this a seperate application to the platinum charge card? I want to apply for the charge card and get the plat reserve, just want to know what to do before applying.

Call up for an application form.
If you already have 2 credit cards and 1 charge card, AMEX will not let you apply for another reserve credit card.
To get around this you have to cancel a credit card, apply the reserve card and wait to be approved, then reinstate your cancel card by saying you made a mistake or whatever reason you want.
Mine was about 8 business days before it was approved then I re-instated 2 cards. I have a total of 4 credit cards and 1 charge with AMEX.

i dont know about that I have the plat charge reserve and edge plus the accellerator gold biz and the plat biz all in my name

I don't know about the Business cards as it may technically be under company ?
I applied for the Companion RESERVE card when I had DJ, Explorer and EDGE. They wouldn't let me and stated the 2CC 1 Charge rule and was surprised I had 3 CCs. Said I had to cancel 2 and then they will approve. I called up DJ amex number, cancelled it then called up the EDGE number and cancelled it. Lodged the reserve, was notified I was approved then called up DJ Amex and EDGE to reinstate.
Took two enquiries on my report because of the first failed attempt. Anyway happy of outcome.
I have DJ, explorer, edge, reserve and charge now.

the edge was linked to the ascent premium(? the charge one) so there was no issues with points. DJ's i had used up the pts. When you cancel you will have to use up the pts unless its linked to a card thats not being cancelled.

All primary/supplementary cards were reinstated with same card numbers and account logins/passwords were reactivated so you don't need to change anything.

Thanks for that, was the edge already linked to ascent premium when reactivated?
