Amex Australia - Centurion Card Eligibility

Can this be given to your +1 (or does it also offer to the +1 card)? In my case for instance, it would be completely useless as I'm about to hit LTG. So being able to choose for my +1 or a supplementary PC holder to take the membership would be useful.
I am a centurion member. My wife is also able to
Be added on as an additional centurion member with the same benefits.

Don't know if I can be bothered now! Was 179k in the past 12 months.

Don't know about asking via Livechat, will probably call the number on the back of the card if I decide to

UPDATE:
Called the number on the back of my card, after a fellow AFF member messaged me. Spoke to a guy called Ray, Australian Call Centre being in hours, and he advised he put forward some remarks about my spend level. I asked him what happens next, and he advised based on previous experience he has had there can be a bit of back and forth between him and the Centurion team on whether I'm eligible. Sounded like he would almost back me up being I've put the interest forward. He advised he will provide an update either way. I'm doubting the last part though based on previous messages on this thread; but fingers crossed!
@Quattro , curious what the outcome of this was - Did you get Cent invite in the end? Any tips? :)

No nothing received and didn't hear back. An AFF private messaged me with similar spend and he received an invite. I can't recall if he requested though.

The amount of travel we have booked this year will increase our spend so who knows. But I'm not as fussed anymore 🤣. Think it was out of boredom.

After saying no to the card early 2020, I called Amex again to express interest and waiting to hear back. Now with travel back, seems like good timing to get the card even withe the 5k set up fee
Oh, interested to see what they think being you declined last time.

So had a bit of spare time today, messaged the chat on Amex app asking about Centurion Eligibility.

Got this odd question as part of EOI. Think it might be part of their new script.

Apparently I find out if I’m successful within “60 days”

I love it how they've practically answered the question for you, and what to say

I have a question for the centurion card holders out there (I’ve recently been offered one).
How many supp card holders can you have (and any fees?)
Are all supp card holders entitled to emirates gold? If so, that would basically mean they all get qantas club access right?

Hey big boss - if u dont mind can you disclose how much you spent per year before being invited?
And regarding QF club - i am 100% sure its only one membership for you OR secondary card holder. Not everyone. Just ONE membership.

I received 5 centurion cards - 3 for me, 2 for my wife.
Also offered 5 platinum cards for rest of family .
No extra charge for all these cards.
Only 1 emirates Gold.
See my posts upstream for details.

That is bizzare....

Yes yes, I have found the same thing...

When I first got the Plat Charge, I thought it was unlimited, like they say on the website..... So I put through 50K in the first few weeks (like I use to on my Plat credit card, so it shouldn't have been any surprise), and they put it on hold..

So I call up confused... I thought it was a charge card, with "no pre set limit" as claimed on your website I naively said.....

They wanted fins to let me put through more than 50K a month... I never got around to it, and instead just transferred 50k across immediately to lift the hold, and then kept it to around the 40-50k a month for the first 3 months or so, and then just started nibbling away....

Now a few years later, I've put through over 100k in some months, with a peak balance of like 160K just before I pay the last month, and never a sniff of a hold...

I guess they have some algo's running, and the algo didn't seem to consider my spend or history across the entire AMEX platform, only each individual card/product...

In any case, mad respect! 750K in a month is heavy duty!
lol I am new to platinum and checked 100k looks fine when considering a new car.

It’s meant to be based on your rolling charge history. So if you usually spend $5k/ month, may only let you do $30k (I’m giving an example, don’t know the exact formula Amex uses) and if you up your spending to $10k/month, it should give you a bigger spend power. If your charge rate falls again, that will also reduce your spend power without you needing to prepay the charge. It’s all based on your spend and repayment history.

It also maxes out so if you use it for business and do put a lot through it, they will have an amount they won’t lend above without you being ‘underwritten’ which gives you a ‘hard’ limit that lasts 2 years before you have to be re-assessed.

My case is like i spent 6k in first month and they give me like 55k. But in 2nd month i spent 16k (already paid this back) and now i check they wont even approve me for 35k lol. Dont get the whole logic and algo

Not sure what’s going on there. I’d call Amex during the week & speak to their credit dept. should be able to give you an explanation or fix it.

I’ve seen posts on the web before from US customer that suggest not to over use the ‘check spending power’ tool on the website as Amex’s algorithms interpret that as you trying to game the system. Is a trigger for a financial review in the US. Not sure what the case is in AU.

Yes i hear same in US use the 'check spending power' too may lead to FR. In aus definitely not the case thou

I heard that if you check spending power a lot and not really put the transactions through can trigger financial review.
Not in OZ i think. In US yes it will trigger FR

Amex's claim that there is no spending limit on Platinum and Centurion is deceitful.
Furthermore, their "check spending limit tool" does not correlate to actual spending limit.
The tool indicated that I could spend 1m, but at above 180k they blocked my card. A phone call later they increased to 250k and for further increases they wanted financials - which I have not bothered sending them - I can always preload the card.
The relationship manager had no idea how the algorithms worked but agreed that the concept of no spending limit was not true for anyone.
