read this information this afternoon and I'm disappointed as I found it fairly easy to find J awards with Etihad using AA miles.

I had a nervous moment until I read further and saw it's effective March 2018 as we fly out on Etihad in 7 week's time.

It's an interesting situation with Qatar making moves to buy into AA.

I think it's on the TPG website it states awards not affected. But I do wonder for how long...

I was looking at Etihad partner airlines and noticed that the redemption chat for AA offers flights from oz to Asia . How is that possible since AA themselves don't fly in this region ? Or is that you can book a AA partner airline flight through Etihad partner airline awards for these routes ?!

Just rung AA in relation to possible EY SYD-LHR in Feb 2018...(availability as F guest saver on EY website)
operator says nothing available with EY on this day or other days in Jan or Feb in F, J. or economy....
Has change in relationship effected ability to book through AA ??...or do I HUACA....

EY has just announced that it will stop flying to DFW from 25 March 2018. Etihad blames AA for ending the codeshare agreement, which it relied on for feeder traffic beyond Dallas.

Etihad to suspend Dallas flights after US airline drops codeshare deal

Etihad is suspending all flights to one major destination in the United States following a decision of an American carrier to end its codeshare agreement.

The airline announced on Thursday that it will stop operating the Abu Dhabi – Dallas/ Forth Worth (DFW) route effective March 25, 2018. Dallas/Forth Worth is one of the five major US destinations that Etihad flies direct to, along with Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington.

American Airlines, which is headquartered in Fort Worth, notified Etihad in June that it is terminating its relationship with the UAE carrier effective March 2018. By terminating the codeshare, American will stop selling tickets for Etihad or share the same flight with the airline.

The US carrier is also reportedly cancelling its codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways.

Etihad said that with the “unilateral decision” by American Airline, it will no longer be commercially sustainable for the company to operate on the Dallas/Forth Worth route.
