Heads up to double check this - just saw it on the Luxury Escapes site:

"Nyepi Day: Please note the Nyepi Day of Silence will take place in Bali on 7 March 2019, during which airports are closed".

They don’t usually close the airport do they?
According to Wikipedia:
Although Nyepi is primarily a Hindu holiday, non-Hindu residents and tourists are not exempt from the restrictions. Although they are free to do as they wish inside their hotels, no one is allowed onto the beaches or streets, and the only airport in Bali remains closed for the entire day ...
Whether this has been the practice in the past, I know not ...

Wow, can't go to the beach or even on the street. And yet, they encourage you to see the parades. Typical confusion there. ;)

Yes it has, every year SQ puts an alert onto it's website warning that no operations into our out of Bali on that specific day. Although it's not usually a problem, as airlines do not sell flights arriving or departing on the day.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yep. That’s always been the case. In resort only and even then no rowdy behaviour. We’d avoid travel at that time and also around Ramadan where the Muslim vendors close stores. But a bigger day to avoid is the last day and next few days at closure of Ramadan. It’s chaos. More than the usual.

We have visited a couple of times during Nyepi and it’s a very eerie feeling. The lead up parades are a sight to behold though.
Has been a couple of years since our last stay during Nyepi but we stayed with a Balinese friend who is Muslim and he taped all his windows up with double layers of cardboard so that the patrolling Nyepi police wouldn’t catch him using candles or his cooker
