What I find interesting is that Emirates only get best 10 in first class, which IMO is pretty average not exceptional unless on the A380 with the spa.

What are your thoughts on this list?

I'm pretty happy to dismiss that list.

Air New Zealand top 10 economy class with 10 abreast seating? I don't think so.

Virgin Atlantic top 10 business class? I don't think so.

No cathay in the top 10 for first class? But thai in the 'top 10'?

Singapore Airlines already in the 'top 10' for premium economy? When was it rolled out exactly? British Airways in the 'top 10' but all you get is a seat. What about LH?

How did Air New Zealand get in the top 10 for all three classes of service it provides?

How did Air New Zealand get in the top 10 for all three classes of service it provides?

Because:

Air New Zealand:
The airline’s Business Premier is the equivalent of many airlines’ first class. The airline has gone to a great deal of trouble with its mattress which is super comfortable ensuring a good night’s rest. The beverage and food service is just superb.

and

Air New Zealand:
Put simply, Air New Zealand’s premium economy is like business, just without the bed. From hot towels, a warm duvet, noise cancelling headphones, full amenity kit, complete bar offering and business class quality meals and snacks served on a linen tablecloth, it is value and comfort at its best.

and

Air New Zealand:
This is one airline that hasn’t forgotten where most of its passengers fly. Who else serves their passengers fruit salad and scones with jam and cream for an afternoon tea snack? They are also the innovators of the popular and unique Skycouch – a section of the cabin in economy where seat groupings of three transform in to a couch giving passengers traveling together more options to lie flat or recline.

ummm... yup.

How did Air New Zealand get in the top 10 for all three classes of service it provides?

My guesses are that PE isn't offered by enough airlines for NZ to not make the top 10, and in Y they would have gotten in on the back of the skycouch. No idea about J. Then again these lists are usually ridiculous and never comprehensively researched.

Not sure that I would include QF in the top 10 Y or J cabins either. Asiana should probably be in the top 10 for F, J and Y. AF in J?? Don't think so. Garuda is probably better than Korean in F.

Perhaps we should come up with our own AFF rankings? I daresay we might do a much better job of it too...

One thing is as predictable as these lists not being fully researched properly, is that lots of people will disagree and nit pick over individual selections.

I read the lists (in alphabetical order!) and thought for most part, not a bad reflection of the reality - a few bizarre inclusions/omissions, but generally OK. But do they understand that VA and VS are different carriers, albeit with common master brand?

Having a list that includes NZ, NH, CX, EY, JL, QR, QF, SQ & VA in their best business class is probably close to the mark [EK being a notable omission, perhaps not unfounded], and the economy list doesn't seem unreasonable.

I think you're right, some sort of weighted graph that changes as we each give an update after a flight on why we flew then i.e. safe reputation through to were my nuts served in a bowl or packet (haha, remember that one)

Could work if anyone has the time to work out the techo side.

Matt

Fundamentally, ratings like this are totally bogus as your experience with an airline is entirely subjective.

The best experience I've ever had on a plane was Vueling. Should it rate #1?

I am intrigued but not sure if you are able to disclose

Likely. It is, as you indicate, all subjective.
