Could be a different place to go for some - Luganville Espiritu Santo to Brisbane direct. Seems that scheduling is an enforced 1 week stay. Credits to QF.

"Air Vanuatu offers direct flights from Brisbane to the Vanuatu island of Espiritu Santo once a week (on Tuesdays at 12.30pm) with a return flight on Mondays, departing at 5.30pm". Necessitating an overnight in BNE on the return apparently.

I had to chuckle about a Fairfax Media travel reporter forgetting headphones!! Mine are in my all important man-bag 24/7, along with other essentials ... pen, paper, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, travel computer, charging leads, passport, vaccination records, spare cash, spare card, sun glasses and lightweight but warm pull-over. Traveller needs to do a write-up on carry-on tips for her!
