Good evening folks,

I've started looking around at fares in the US for a trip in OCT/NOV and was wondering if it'd be best to book now or if sales do come about?

From what I've seen so far it's difficult to find anywhere to sign up for a sale newsletter with DL or VX

As the first week is set solid I'm tempted to book in LAX - SFO - LAX - LAS right now for $196 a person with DL.....

I very much doubt you will get much better than that for that part of the trip.

Here's the VX email subscription link -

and DL (think you have to sign up to Skymiles, from what I can see) -

I'd hold off. I've also been looking at DL/VX price trending between several cities and I can tell you that the LAX-SFO route (for example) seems to have a sliding discount window of 3-4 months prior to departure. So if booking out til October, you're looking at ~$230 whereas within the sliding 3 month departure window it drops to $148.

This could very route specific though.

The OP is talking about a mutli sector trip for under $200. I doubt he'd get under that considering the sectors.

Oh, and economy too by the looks of the price! Sorry, immediately assumed status run (biz/first) routing.

If interested, if you combine a one-way BIZ LAX-SFO on DL for $148 with a FIRST SFO-LAX-LAS on VX at $243 (separate ticket), you're looking at 120 status credits for $391 USD. Not bad value if crediting to VA at $3.1 per SC.

Gold member, you've swayed me! I absolutely love that idea!

So 3-4 months out you think it's good to keep an eye out?

Next thought, we'll be heading to the somewhere in Florida out of either Denver or Las Vegas, any particular wins with this hop? Not particularly concerned about the port in Florida if it = a sc win

Generally speaking the west coast routes are at their lowest within 3-4 months of departure on a sliding scale. Do some testing now with dates in March, June and then October and see the difference yourself. Need to remember that the AUD might be a lot lower by then too...

Some ideas for Florida (routing availability varies by date):

LAS-LAX-DTW-FLL $610 and 180 SCs
LAS-MSP-ATL-MCO $520 and 160 SCs
LAS-LAX-SMF-ATL-TPA $746 and 200 SCs

DEN-MEM-MSP-TPA $474 and 180 SCs
DEN-JFK-ATL-FLL $531 and 180 SCs

There are probably better $/SC available, I spent only 10 mins looking.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That's amazing, thanks again!

As I come closer to booking I'll put out a formal request in the flight search forum!
