I'll be interested to see the actual flight schedules....Departures / arrivals at unGodly hours are assumed until proven otherwise:rolleyes::shock:

Not likely to have OMG o'clock departures/arrivals considering the curfew system in place in SYD. Plus they would want to be able to connect people coming in from other places. Looks like airasia X have evolved to become (dare i say it).....the first LCC in the kangaroo route!

Cant wait, this will save me many drives to melb.

Horrible on the way back, fly into melb, sleep 3 hours in car, drive home. Not good.

I am waiting for those to come out and say I won't fly D7 even if the seats were free!

Anyway, if and when it happens, I am hoping for those super duper $99 each way deals (that I have booked in the past for OOL-KUL vv , MEL-KUL vv).

OK I will say it.I appreciate the total experience of flying, besides mrsdrron would refuse anyway.Sure I am in the minority but doesn't worry me at all.

No worries at all and each to their own views, wants and desires.

But I really dislike it when one comes out with all guns blazing saying I wont fly this or that because they suck, when they have no actual experience other than through hearsay. I've seen it in other threads esp. relating to TT, sometimes JQ and DJ.

Well I have flown Air Asia and thats why mrsdrron wont consider anything with that name again.
Havent flown TT and wont but i have witnessed 3 incidents that i would never want to experience and their TV exposure didnt help as well.

Now I would fly if it is free. Even if not, I don't mind paying the taxes. If there are $99 fare I would just book it first then trying to convince Mrs Edison later .

One reason I am happy there is a curfew in Sydney.

I'd consider day flights, but certainly no overnight flights unless I coudl get a really good deal on the XL seats, but even then I'd have to REALLY think about it.

AA-X seats have to be the most uncomfortable i've ever sat in.

Getting out of Oz for $99...to KL where there are supercheap connections to virtually anywhere...opens up amazing fares to the UK, Thailand, Singapore, Abu Dhabi to name a few...

As bad as the seats are...it really is amazing that now Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast have access to such cheap fares.

Without LCC's airfares would still be in the dark ages...until the likes of QF start really delivering a far superior Y product there really are limited reasons to pay up to 10x the price for the same route.

I think there are still plenty of reasons to pay the extra for say Qantas, Singapore, Cathay or their ilk.

But hopefully the influx of LCC's will help to bring one way pricing ex-Australia for the legacy carriers, just like has happened ex-LHR for European routes.

...and there are plenty of folk that will pay the extra. LCC's have their place, but they are not the be all and end all of flying.

They're pulling a plane out of Melbourne. Their 2 x daily to KL reduces to 1 x daily from 1st August 2010.

Please be more specific.

I have been looking for super cheap (or even cheap) fares ex KUL to LON.

If you can find them, please let me know (I should advise I have been doing an awful lot of research).

And please don't mention Air Asia X, as they have just screwed me up royally by withdrawing from AUH.

So there's a challenge for you. Look forward to hearing some good news...

What, no response?

Anyone?

Maybe there's no such animal...

The fact no one has replied may be related to the fact you've gone in ruling out options. Air Asia X the only airline I know with really cheap airfares, though I did manage to fly my family to London from Hong Kong for quite a lot less that $1000 per head last year on Air NZ which I though was pretty good though not up to the $254 one way advertised by Air Asia.
