I will be on holiday in Cairns next month from 5/9/2017, direct flight over booked already. I am just about to book my flight back to Perth for sometime towards the end of September.

When I looked at the usual Qantas or Virgin non direct flights, via BNE etc - I started to wonder if there were other possibilities for getting back CNS to PER, when time is not a factor.

Does flying with Air North TL161 from CNS- GOV - DRW - KNX- PER for $494 with 20 kg checked in baggage and 9 kg hand luggage sound too crazy ? 9 hours 10 mins total flying time with 3 stops.

I thought at least I would get a glimpse of places like Gove and Kunnunurra that I would not normally see.

Sorry to state the obvious, but you're on a frequent flyer forum. I don't think there'd be many members around here that would think it crazy, per se.

Also worth noting that Qantas has codeshares on most AirNorth services, so you can book on the QF Website onto the QF flight number and earn SCs and QFF Point. (Though you may be able to earn both on the TL flight number, I'm just not certain about that.)

Yes I too love flying just for the sake of it - as I am sure most AFF members do.

But the older I get the more comfort I also need.... however after checking that the aircraft would be E170 with a total of 76 passengers, only 2 seats each side of aisle, 4 crew, 2 toilets and complimentary refreshments - what's not to like ?

I am convincing myself that flying should be be an adventure, not just an exercise of getting from point A to point B.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That idea just bombed as the flights Darwin to Perth are apparently only every Friday and the last of the season is 22nd September, which is too early for me to return to Perth.

Air North flights Cairns--Gove-Darwin run DAILY, but then getting a flight Darwin to Perth with another carrier seems costly - so best stick with a Qantas Cairns to Perth via Brisbane flight and some more FF points with an extra 50per cent promotion they have on.
