Hi All,

Just wondering if any of you have connected from Mexican Airlines flight 910 (from Mexico City), which arrives at LAX at 19:50 for a flight back to Australia on QF94, which departs at 23:40.

Is immigration/customs on flights from Mexico City to USA done on the Mexico side of the flight (like flights from Canada into the USA) or should one expect a long wait in a queue after getting off MEX910 before being able to proceed to QF checkin.

Cheers,
Paul.

Immigration is done at LAX. I think from memory that Mexicana flights arrive at TBI. My expectation is that TBI should not be overly busy at 8pm, so I would nopt expect huge delays at immigration on arrival.

You will need to collect bags at LAX and re-check them. If the Mexicana check-in agent tags your bag through to MEL (as should be possible) then you should be able to deposit you already tagged bag with the staff outside customs at TBI for transfer to your new flight.

QF94 will also depart from TBI, so you will then need to proceed upstairs to the check-in and departures level. Departures security can get busy at that time of night. There are two security screening points, one at each side of the check-in areas. If the security queue is long at one of them, check out the other one. You can walk through to all gates once through security, so although the security check-points are identified as entries for a certain range of gate numbers, you can use either to get through.

You should have ample time for the connection.
