so having a rather infuriating night really trying to book some tickets for November
availability is exceptionally labile on expedia and the qantas website doesn't even show availability so I'm getting stumped and here for help to see if anyone knows anything about this

QF in New Zealand have a fare published yesterday 6/7/2017 for travel to North America with the sale finishing on 10/7
prices are reasonably good in J and in fact you can find the fare rules and fare basis on the QF industry NZ website

https://www.qantas.com/agents/dyn/n...-USA_Short_Term_Special_Published_06Jul17.pdf

What i'm struggling with is the following

1) in all the dates in that booking window for I class flights, I can't find a single I class flight to LAX/SFO on the QF website - on expedia there was some an hour ago but all gone now
2) I can't quite figure out the routing because I can't pull up the actual fare in expertflyer as it doesn't seem loaded so I have no idea if it is exclusive for the QF codeshare on the AA AKL-LAX flight

at $4500 return I feel that it's quite a steal

but it's a real joke that I searched basically every date in the window, even dates where expertflyer shows I class availability from various POS (though I accept NZ POS may be different) but can't find anything

Anyone else have any ideas? I'm thinking I'll probably need to go to a physical travel agent at this rate

Looking at dates of outbound 5th-7th Nov and Inbound 14th-16th Nov

I've had a look for 10 minutes and can only get this to price using the direct AKL-LAX codeshare flight on a NZ PoS. Here's the permitted routing:

Code:
  1 * AKL-SYD/BNE/MEL-SFO
  2 * AKL-SYD/BNE/MEL-LAX-QF-SFO

There's nothing in the fare rules that says you can't use the AU-US QF flights. If you're hellbent on flying via AU you might need to ring QF and ask them to see what's going on.

Well at least it's good to know that I'm not going completely mad...... I've been trying all sorts of things to make it work

Well the QF call centre was rather useless, wasn't quite interested and just kept telling me all they saw were sale fares at a $7800 price bracket

UPDATE - so i managed to price it on expedia using the QF codeshare on AA direct and back. Tried to call QF to get it ticketed via QF but alas no go. Apparently expedia have access to different I inventory than QF proper does, goes figure
