I have read a few posts about the "benefits" of Lifetime Platinum in AA, can I please have it explained in simple terms the benefits ( and or ease of doing this). Things I have observed are that the AA Lifetime Platinum appears to be the similar level to QF Lifetime Gold, except that with AA Lifetime it appears that this does not allow club access when traveling domestically in the US, and one has to actually purchase a membership to do so. Also some comments alluded to the fact that this AA Lifetime Platinum can be earned mostly with credit card miles?

Incidentally just noticed this morning a JASA on 21th Oct SYD LAX for 156,203 or 96,000 plus $611.oo ( a classic is 96,000 plus taxes of 458.59 and i even saw a DWN-SYD-LAX on the same day for about 4,000 extra points (JASA)

One quick point - it can only be earned from flying and I think is purely BIS miles rather than points earned.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Been that way since late '11 I believe. Prior to that CC earn did indeed count towards lifetime status.
