Adelaide Airport Upgrade

I'm sitting in Adelaide airport now, I didn't think it was that bad. But, I never use a taxi to or from the airport and don't fly international out of Adelaide.

Chaos usually starts when private airport management want more money from parking so start reducing pick up and drop off areas. Be careful when you wish for an 'enhanced' airport.

Well it mentioned that the VA Lounge will be relocated. Hopefully it would be much bigger version and if possible have Premium Entry.

Hopefully there will be a decent lounge for international departures. The QF lounge late at night is woeful

I was there around the same time. I must say the drop off area for taxis is getting worse, but not terrible like Melbourne airport. The Virgin Lounge is very small really and fills up quickly giving not many options. I also notice some tables were "reserved", I forgot to ask the staff on the way out how that works.

But either way overdue, but not ready for another 3 years - my assignment to Adelaide will be well over by then.

I work in the airport precinct and so spend a lot of my day in and around the terminal. A real positive vibe around with this announcement as the airport has needed some decent money spent on it for awhile. The new international lounge is the most exciting of course and there has been strong talk that it will coincide with direct ADL-LAX flights. Has been a bit of talk around airport staff that Delta might be involved in these US flights

and I wonder if our national carrier will return to Adelaide with international flights.

Exactly what happened in CBR. A small airport with very manageable passenger flows. Thankfully drop-off is now good, but pick-up is so inefficient and designed to encourage parking fees.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s for the status level above Platinum. To ensure they have a seat/table in the smaller lounges. Never seen it at BNE but have at ADL regularly.

Great news new lounge coming! Finally the broom closet is going! Well in 3 years time.... those reserved tables aren’t policed anyway, I’ve sat in them a few times when the Lounge is crammed :)

I'm happy for all in SA if if i'm wrong but i find that unbelievably unlikely unless DL have made some mega contract on freight ex-SA that makes it worthwhile.

The other thing i can see in all if this is the cost per pax (charged to the carrier and then on0charged to the pax) going through the roof. But of course no announcement on that one.....

Hey I agree, all just rumours ATM. My understanding is that the direct ADL to US West Coast flights will happen it’s just a matter of who. I can’t see QF stepping up so perhaps VA. As you rightfully said DL or another US carrier would probably need a decent freight contract to make it worthwhile
