Received this email from Hilton. I don't have any stays upcoming in the next 30 days. :(

Can I just go to Hilton in Brisbane and enjoy a coffee (and banana cake) and put that to my HHonors account? Wont be staying their, just the coffee thanks.

Looking for an easy solution to keep the account active with its 35,000 points.

We've missed you, Albatross710! It's been more than nine months since you've used your HHonorsaccount. Remember to keep your account active. You must earn HHonors points at least once every 12 months or all of your points may be forfeited.

There are lots of easy ways for you to save your HHonors points, if you act by 01 May 2015.

Have you changed your password lately? Change the password this month (you might need to do it in the mobile app) for an easy 1,000 points :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Buy some points. Or hire a car and credit to Hhonors. Or transfer some credit card points.

There is some doubt whether the 1000 points for changing your password will count as activity, plus they may take up to 8 weeks to post.
Just buy 1000 points for USD10.00, very simple and credited almost immediately.

Missed it by 1 hour. Seems it expired 25th March. I was hoping it might have gone through on US time.

I'll check the credit card minimum transfer from my friends at Westpac.

No one answered this, so I will. The answer is no. You must be staying in-house to credit points to your account.

From what I've heard, buying points doesn't count as account activity (which is ridiculous)

No special occasion coming up that justifies a night in Surfers Paradise or Brisbane?

Not true,

I got the same email last year and purchased some points; account activity box ticked and remained a member.

It definitely does. I've kept my account alive twice in the past by buying $10USD worth of points.

In fact this year I was a few weeks late when I remembered, but luckily it still counted (as I was Gold + had a stay coming up). $10USD worth of points and all was good. :)

Cheers,
Febs.

Wanting to check up on a family member's account, is it 12 months validation before needing to purchase a few more points? I see they are 1000 points for USD10 still.

And, OT, but are there any Hiltons in Aus that are 10K points pn as there are in say Malaysia? ;) Or, anywhere really cheap - only 35K points banked up and unlikely to get any more in the foreseeable.

I have not earned any points in over 12 months. Checking my account and I do not see any warnings or expiration dates. Wanting to defer any purchases or points transfers if not need to do.

Would Hilton Diamond play a part in points not expiring?

It is now August and points are still active. No sign of expiry. No email that I am aware.

Guess Hilton Diamond has extended expiry of points?

If you're that desperate to offload points for nothing ....... I'm sure I could accommodate you (pun intended)! ;)

I'd be careful. I've never heard of there being a Diamond exemption. My guess is that the '12 months' is not a hard cutover date. The T&C surrounding this is full of 'may', 'might', etc, so I'd say its flexible, from their perspective. They might simply have an internal timer of 18 months or so, or, again internally, extend status holders by a few extra months? Who really knows, but I'd say its a dangerous game to play if you have a decent number of points hoarded.

For mine, I just bought the minimum number of points US$10, a total rip on a points/dollar basis, but kept my massive load good for another 12 months which I burned at really good value last christmas at Conrad Bali.

That would be an option but I am hoping I get an email warning that points are about to expire.

I may have a stay in November.
