I'm renewing my Accor Plus membership - current ask is $329 for primary card renewal and for supplementary they offer $299 with free night or $159 without free night. From memory last year they had better deals, was anyone out there able to negotiate a better deal with A+ renewal??

Renewed 5 weeks ago and the deal was the same as you noted above. They didn't budge when I threatened to walk ...they don't even throw in the Free 2 Pax breakfeast voucher any more if you say you are not going to renew. They seemed to be okay with me 'walking'

Renewed a week ago @ $329. Wasn't going to until the guy on the phone said they would allow me to retain Platinum for another year.
Didn't hear much beyond the $159 for supp

Were you far from retaining platinum?
The new criteria are a big ask!

Please let us know if that’s indeed the case when you receive your card.
I already requilified for Platinum so no issues here, my partner won’t make it and they told me A+ would allow her to retain Platinum for another year. I told them great but pls send me an email to confirm in writing and they never did.
A+ folks are notorious for promising everything you want to hear over the phone and then disappearing if you have any problems!

Quite far from retaining plat!

I was charged the renewal fee the next day and the expiry date on my online account was indeed extended 12 months. Took another few days for the stay benefit night to be added to the account. The guy on the phone did say that on occasions the website may show a drop to silver but would be rectified in a day or two. This wasn't the case for me, but he did say a quick phone call and they could adjust things on their end.

Yes last time I renewed it was for $329 with no extra incentives offered when I hesitated. But I feel I got a good deal using the card this year. And an especially good priced stay in Avignon France, plus we were upgraded to the Privilege Suite which was lovely. Also managed to get my free night at the new Sofitel Darling Harbour. So I will renew again.

There is a current deal offering 7,500 bonus Velocity points with Accor Plus membership, but it's just for new members.

On another note, I'm not sure how they can call it a "free night" when it actually costs $140.

No idea what you are talking about. I have been able to redeem for a compllimentary night every year. No $140 payments, just a 0 cost room...

You can depending on the hotel upgrade to a better room, and this does come at a cost - but there are rooms around with no charge.

I'm referring to the fact as per the OP, the renewal for a supplementary card with a "free night" costs $299 and without the free night costs only $159. Anyway, not a big deal.

Oh, well that is not a 'free' night. But then all the paperwork refers to it as a 'complimentary' night.

If you've been around long enough, you get to know the difference between 'free' and 'complimentary' :)

I renewed so i didnt have to use my free night this year and they gave me platinum again . I had no way of earing i only stayed a few nights

I joined via another country for around $200 with the same benefits however they had to start a new account which they didn't tell me till after I'd paid, wasn't happy but the dining discounts have made up for it.
Will just book the free night via the new account

They told.me.ihad renewed platinim, but dropped me back anyway.

Locked me in to drop this at the next renewal.

What were you sitting at for you previous 12 months activity mate? i.e. how many nights/status points and what level were you at...did they drop you to Silver? Sometimes it can take 48-72 hours for them to return you back to Platinum as the act of renewing automatically sets you to Silver.

Was just shy of Gold. I had been thinking of planning a run to Gold, but didn't bother (I have a few other issues. like stopping some points expiring in a couple of programs)

I'll fire them an email (rather than going through the whole call centre thing)

My renewal is coming up at the end of this month so hopefully i'll be offered platinum again. I only made silver this year based on points.

Doubt you will be offered I demanded or would not renew . Received an email confirming Plat today

My renewal is due at the end of the month. For those who have renewed recently, did Accor contact you about renewal, or did you contact them? I would have expected to have heard from them by now and haven't, so think I might ring next week. I recall I had to phone them last year as well.
