[minor rant]

New to Accor Plus, but have suffered for a long time under the LeClub Accor web site :(

Couldn't log onto the Accor Plus web site; after entering the e-mail address and password, with 2 green ticks, those boxes and words simply disappeared and nothing happened. I cleared the cache, did all the usual self-help things - same result over a couple of days.

Called the members line and got a pleasant, dare I say Australian sounding lady who asked me to send info on the problem, and my system etc to [email protected] , which I did with screen shots of the issue, my IE version (full details), my OS etc etc. I know there are certain web site which struggle with IE but they are usually fixable by doing certain things.

In the meantime, I logged on using Chrome, which I have on my laptop but don't like or use much.

Today, a few days later, I got a call from again, dare I day a call-centre sounding person who asked me to use Chrome. OK, says I, but what about the IE issue? "Just use Chrome, please." was the reply.

"Is anyone going to get back to me so I can use IE? Are you in IT?"

"No, I'm in general things"

"Can you sent my e-mail to some IT people so they can address the issues? IE is the world's most popular browser - I can't imagine that accorplus.com simply doesn't work on it."

"I will forward it to my supervisor."

"Is your supervisor in the IT group?"

"No, but he will know what to do."

As I'm obviously not going to get anything sensible out of Accor, has anyone else had this log-on problem with accorplus.com and/or can suggest a fix (other than 'just use another browser' :)) ?

[/ minor rant]

And yes, the title is meant to begin 'Accor Plus ...'. Can a mod help my fat fingers?

I use Chrome.

(sorry, I couldn't resist)

In all seriousness though I use a Mac so can't even check to see if I have the same problem with IE. The website certainly isn't renown for its stability though.

I think I had the same issues in IE logging into normal Accor website. The fields would be cleared and log in failed. My lesson was to start using Firefox to access Accor website.

RooFlyer I'm afraid that response is not unusual. I work in web development and IE is and has for a long time been problematic for designing and testing websites. This is because traditionally Microsoft have always been a bit behind and not fully compliant of the W3C web standards, e.g. they were last to support HTML5 and don't implement or support some HTML/CSS properties or attributes. This means that it can have some odd behaviour with compliance coded pages, and as there are many versions of IE that have different support for the standards in each version it often just isn't worth trying to code around it within the different versions.

Oh and it is not the world's most popular browser, and has not been for many, many years: Browser Statistics. Currently about 7%.

I am not a fan of the main Accor website, one of the tags deployed on their website using Google Tag Manager actually inserted malware into my Chrome browser! Most of the time I use Firefox with the Ghostery add-on but I had switched to Chrome to do something else at that time.

Yowsers! Thanks for that. I had no idea of how much IE had slipped ... probably starting with the EU legislating that it had to be unbundled from the OS :D (if memory serves, and it usually doesn't).

The main Accor web site is simply abominable - don't need to be a web developer to know that .

Groan ... looks like I might have to drag myself over to Chrome. But Accor's call centre response still sucks.

Be my guest :)

Since the latest upgrade, I'm loving how it defaults to the Euro currency. Subsequent updates have seen a minor win recently where users select the appropriate currency, which actually sticks throughout the booking process (it didn't previously).

Has anyone else noticed or experienced the same?

Not in the app, but on the site yesterday I have screenshots of one page showing rooms in London avail at an AUD price per night ... Yet the next page has a total that could only be calculated if the nightly price should have been GBP not AUD. I rang the Accor phone bookings and they read out from their system a GBP amount that was showing as AUD on the site!!!

Such a carp site and customer care is woeful.

Just out of curiosity, after your rant, I decided to check my IE in Win 8.1 and sign in to Accor Plus. First go, no problems. Did the same with Accor (the free one) no problems. Perhaps I am just lucky today. However, all previous attempts to log-in when I really wanted to make a booking, have all worked too. Must be just dumb luck for me, upsetting for you and others.

cheers :-|:-|

Sounds similar enough. Serious case of 'professional' rookies.

Well, waddayaknow ... I can log in too! (I use Windows 7 and IE11.0.xx_xx_xx_xx_x )

It did present me with a new cookie to accept. Cookie was accorhotels.ws - Samoa domain!! Go figure. Not sure if that made a difference, but I had accepted all direct Accor cookies before.

Who knows ... maybe they actually read my e-mail, and detailed attachments and did something about it.

But I wouldn't bank on it.

I doubt it - I use Safari on MacOS - sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't - when it doesn't work trying later in the day or the follow day usually solves the problem.

Accor websites & Apps are truly dreadful.

just to add to everyone elses experiences tried to logon with the app last night and impossible...told me I have no internet connection !!!...Changed from iphone to ipad same deal....then 10 minutes later was able to login on both my iphone and ipad !!!.Go figure !!!..Truly a horrible app that Accor should be ashamed of !!
