Accor Advantage Plus sales team have ruined it for me...

Had a call from the advantage plus sales team this morning to ask if I would be interested in joining. Before I could get a word in he was rattling off all the benefits and how it will do wonderful things for me, my wife, my work life and will more than likely put an end to hunger in the third world etc etc.

When I got the chance, I explained that I'm already signed up, paid the fees, and Gold..

On hearing this he no less than called me a liar and started ranting on, but at no point could he confirm:
-my membership number
-my address
-where I had stayed recently

I hung up and called the Accor Advantage 1300 number and asked about what had just happened and I was told that it was their sales team and that I had two membership numbers registered and this must have caused confusion, she made a note on my account and all sorted.

20 minutes later, call received from a private number, it's the same douchecanoe from before; yelling at me for going above his head, and having him marked down as a con artist with anger issues... Well, I didn't put it quite like that, but he did a good job of cementing that image.

So sorry Accor, not even my love for the Sofitel in Brisbane (or Melbourne), can save this..

I had a call from the sales team recently and the rep was rather rude and pushy. Needless to say she didn't make the sale.
 
wow - that is bordering on harassment I would be sending an email to the highest management contact you can suggesting you will be contacting the police if they don't take immediate action!
 
you are not alone- received the same treatment from their sales team- we are platinum and have held the account for over a decade. Ridiculous young male idiot started threatening downgrade to gold if we didn't pay up immediately and all sorts of rubbish. I rang back and cancelled my membership. Have an upcoming trip and it would have been useful...

EDIT : have just noticed that accor advantage plus is now called "äccorplus"- https://www.accorplus.com/en/australia

any idea if any changes anyone?

Not good at all.

Can you remember his name? Did he mention which office he was from? Maroochydore?

Shoot an email through to Louise Daley. She will put you in contact with Tony Williams.

They both handled the situation well and were very interested in hearing about these problems.

I will update with the result of my complaint when I get back from this trip.
 
Thanks Wooley, I did call back and speak to complaints team. Never heard from them again which is typical of Accor. Would love to hear what if anything they do for you...

Complaints team is useless. They fobbed me off and then told the sales bloke I had called him names etc which made the situation even more amusing.

At the moment looks like I'll be getting some vouchers/free nights?

Definitely more food and cultural experiences ..but they came at a cost ..some good value ..others not.

I have always found the Accor website clunky and the new Accor Plus site even more frustrating. I have to sign in two to three times just to access my account or make a booking. I cannot find anywhere on the new site or mobile app the listing of hotels for the dining discount. I've already decided that I won't renew this year as we don't travel domestically very much, our location renders the dining discount useless and the limitation of Asia Pacific for the accom/dining discounts are just not worth it - switching to IHG Dining Rewards. I get more benefit from my Gold status than the Accor Plus membership and my next few stays will tip me over into Plat.
