Hi peeps,

I'll be signing up to Advantage Plus in the next day or so (gulp). I'll be getting my money's worth via the dining discount during an upcoming resort stay, so hold fire on the neg comments ;-)

It looks like a referral earns some type of reward for the referrer, so first PM with name and member number wins the prize. I hope this is kosher, just a small roundabout way of giving back to those who have helped me with advise.

That would be great... Have PMd details ...

I took my wife to Thailand last year and the Accor club card was well worth it, particularly in dining....

My wife and I are Advantage Plus members and it is well worth the money for the free night and the dining discounts in Asia Pacific are fantastic, and renew it yearly.

Just check that your hotel is participating as some don't in dining.

Also you are given Silver status so you amass more points.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hi all.

Is it possible to find out in advance what the dining discount is at a particular property? I saw that it says up to 50%, but I want to do the maths to see if membership is worth it for a stay in Queenstown and not knowing the exact discount makes it difficult.

TIA.

The discount is based on the number of people dining and the number of cards.

1 person + 1 card = 25%
2 people + 1 card = 50%
3 people + 1 card = 33%
4 people + 1 card = 25%

If you have a second card you get additional discounts up to 50%.

Thanks. It would be helpful if they had that information on their web site.

In my case, it will always be two of us dining so a 50% discount sounds pretty good against the initial cost of the card, which I understand to be AUD320.

Is 25% as low as the discount goes - e.g. I often dine out in a group of 8, and would have only one card.

Keep in mind its food only, much like Priority Privilege over at IHG. There are often specials with IHG each month offering better discounts, not sure if Accor do these.

My understanding is that the discount equals to the cardholder share being free... so if you go with 8 people your discount would be 1/8th = 12.5%

Thinking of signing up ...2 things:

1) first person back to me with their details I will use as referral
2) are there any offers at the moment (either cash back sites or price reductions/sales) I can leverage to reduce the annual cost?

thanks

Really dumb question guys... I am also looking at joining (based on recommendations of friends) - my question is on the dining discount.
If two people dine at a participating hotel, only one diner has a membership card, is it 50% off the entire food bill? Or just 50% discount for the diner who has the card?

For 2 people dining with one card the discount off the food bill in participating restaurants is 50% in the Asia Pacific region.
not all restaurants participate, check out the Advantage Plus site to see who participates.

hi mate.. See m@rcopolos note above.. Essentially the cardholder dines free whether it is 2, 3, 4 people and so on. It is 25percent only if dining alone. this is a good portion from the t's and c's.

When a member dines alone the member will receive a 25% discount on food, when a member and one other person dine a 50% discount on food applies, when three people dine the discount will be 33% and when four people dine the discount will be 25% and so on.

remember you can have multiple cards per table as well so 4 diners where there are 2 card holders means a 50percent discount...

Just read some reviews on this scheme on TripAdvisor and mostly pretty negative, I hope your experiences have been better.

I have had the card for 8 years now and have definitely got my moneys worth.

The dining discount is excellent and I have always got good value out of my free night stay.
Recently stayed for 4 nights at the Sofitel Melbourne using my free night and discounts and it only cost $520

I also used it staying in Glasgow earlier in the year and got a good discount.

So I am happy with my card.

hi tomo69 ..per ellen10s note and for other programs ..you need to know how to work it and watch the pitfalls! This means ensure you get a high value free night; read the t's and c's to death! take advantage of the weekly Red Hot Rooms rates; watch out for dining restrictions ...but in a nutshell you can often recoup your cost from a good stay at a pullman or sofitel in a relatively peak period... the people who complain on tripadvisor typically have not read the t's and c's ...yes this can be annoying sometimes (for instance no dining deals on mothers day) but a 'free' night and a dinner will usually recoup your costs ..then ..get a red hot member room for 100$ instead of 200$ and you are ahead of the game...
