Just got an email from Accor giving me 48 hour advance access to another 50% off sale they are having (stays July 8th to September 6th), not sure if this is through Advantage Plus or with A|Club - but I'm guessing the latter.

I've just tried to look at some dates for August, so it seems that the rates might not have been loaded yet, actually this happened in the first 12 hours for their last sale in April (I think?), so I'm not too worried yet, but if the sale is 50%, this could be quite good - the last time I booked Menzies in Sydney for under 80 bucks (Advantage plus though..) and was very pleased with that stay.

Oh the sale is meant to close 16th of June, so there seems to be more time than other similar promotions, but safe to say that one should book earlier if they know they're travelling.

Unless no one's interested.. I'll post back when the sale rates are loaded!

Great, thanks for the notice, I need to book a night in Melbourne in August.

Was about to pull the trigger on the Intercontinental Collins St for $165 family & friends rate, might hold off for a room at Sofitel/Novotel now! :D

No worries, except the promotion doesn't seem to include Sofitel/Novotel, but according to the facebook link from FT, all their hotels will be covered under this promotion.. Quite bizarre.

Last time they had this, I remember that Sofitel's were also not part of it, but I'm sure I read stories of people getting 50% off Sofitel rates as well!!

Forgot to include this in the original: Participating list of hotels: http://www.accorhotels.com/pdf/crazyprices-participating-hotels.pdf

Direct Crazy Prices link: Accor Hotels:Crazy prices

Facebook page: A - there is to be a surprise tomorrow, I wonder what it could be...:?:

Fair enough the sofitel's are not included.

Interesting some novotels are there but none in Melbourne...just have to wait and see I guess.

$165 for the intercontinental is still a good rate ;)

Hahaha, the aim is never to pay full price for anything

This promotion is only valid for stays next month onwards anyway, so I'm guessing your IC rate will still be available in a week or so :D

go the intercon, lovely hotel. have you been there before? well located

I haven't been to the IC Melbourne before, definitely want to try it out one day though.

Not too bad location, but I'm there for a weekend break (red eye JQ friday night, back on sunday night...Love my Perth Glory FC :D)

Usually in Melbourne it's the Novotel or Sofitel. The almighty dollar rules in this case though, since I'm paying :p

Alright, just priced a 3 night stay August 21-24 at the Mercure Welcome for $61 a night.. that'll be just under $70 if you are not an Advantage Plus member.

Wow, I'm actually quite shocked at how cheap that is, Must...Fly!

If the dollar rules in this case, I say wait 48 hours until it goes on sale to the general public and then save $100 off the IC ;)

As a poor student, I wish I could stay at fancier hotels, but I've paid more to stay at Hotel Formule1's (2 star), so this has gotta be the winner IMHO :D

I'm a poor student too, but I want some nice accommodation!

Despise the welcome, had a very bad experience there and will not go back.

I think I have dad's advantage plus number lying around here somewhere...might see what I can price. Still very tempted by the IC though, $165 for a hotel I've wanted to try for a while...

I did save money on the flights after all, only paid $260-odd return from Perth (gotta love JQ's price beat)

EDIT: Grand Mercure Flinders Lane looks the go, maybe...I've got 2 days to mull it over anyway.

Oh wow.. a kindred spirit :D .. I love Jetstar's price beat guarantee!!

If you've had a bad experience with the Welcome, then that's definitely enough reason not to go there, but it's still $100 off

I guess Accor's sale can't beat IC in terms of quality :p, but I think 4 star quality in the Grand Mercure Vacation Apartments (4 star) at $112 or the Grand Hotel MGallery Collection at $111 is pretty reasonable - location wise, I think they're still fairly reasonable?

I'm not an Accor advertiser:rolleyes:, but I just think $61 is incredibly cheap, let us know how it goes.

OT: if you could pm or reply about your bad experience, I'd actually like to hear it, so I can make a decision on it myself.. ;)

PM Sent.

Also I wouldn't go the mgallery one, that's right next to 10 railway tracks.

For me the IC is still leading...I think my desire to experience it is enough to ignore my wallet :p

Thanks for the pre sale warning.

Although not as cheap as their last sale, there is still lots of good value
