Went to check AFF earlier on mobile phone and everything had changed. What happened to being able to access the full AFF website on mobile phone?

I can't really do anything with whatever has replaced it. I am guessing it is an AFF app but I have not paid for it or downloaded it.

The screen is all white except for a small line about 3/4 of the way across the screen that has 2-3 characters per line going down the page. Can't make the sub-forum names. Can't view new posts.

Was this change intentional?

Hi JohnK,

My suggestion is to download the app. It does make it much easier. The application is free.

What device are you using? Android or OS?

For now I have a Samsung Galaxy S without any apps downloaded.

I'm Seeing the same thing on iPhone...not sure i like it.

This is what it looks like in safari.

It looks a little different but the content is still there.

Really not sure if I like it either..
Will take some time to adapt I guess.. ;)

It is absolute rubbish, but if you look in your menus (at least on an android device) there is an option to tick for "full website" or similar, which brings it all back. But you have to do this every time you access the site unfortunately.

did it on the tablet I have...........annoyed me enough I am sitting on my laptop and probably will not access this site as much as I use the tablet I have 90% of the time. I couldn't find a way to change it either

JohnK,

I suggest you download the app which is optimised for use in smart phones and tablets. As a Gold member you have full access via the app, which some/many people actually prefer to the full site.

It may be rubbish (IYHO) or it may simply be a software issue but we don't know yet. If you have a problem bring it to our attention and you may be pleasantly surprised to find that we are not perfect and don't already know about it. I will point admin to the thread to see what he is able to come up with.

Have a look at the forum via the app and you might be surprised at what you think. All members can read the app but only Silver and Gold can post via the app so if you find it useful you might like to purchase a Silver or Gold membership and get rid of all the ads and also pickup the other benefits that are available. See: AFF Silver & Gold Membership Privileges.

I have no idea why anyone would not use the app to read threads. (even if it was stuffed up my eyesight. ;)

App free devices?

Seriously I struggle for more than 10-15 minutes on a phone and I wear glasses.

Hate the changes which will keep me off the site as it is now impossible to see only new things without having to trawl through stuff I have already seen or don't want to see. Bad move.

We are in the process of changing the way AFF is viewed on Mobile devices. It is still Work-in-progress, so thanks for the feedback.

Important Notes:

1. These changes DO NOT effect the iPhone and Android Apps. If you don't like the changes (and you use an Apple or Android device) try our App. Many members actually prefer the App to the Browser version!

2. These changes DO NOT effect the regular Browser version.

The site still looks the same on the iPad thankfully. It's on the iPhone that I am confronted with a mass of subject headings and no "new posts" or "today's posts" heading.

The site is fine on the Amazon Fire which is android. I use the app on the iPhone which I prefer to the website on the Android. So easy to check participated and new posts on the app.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Here is some news: not ALL members prefer the app. We old crusty types prefer websites to look more or less the same regardless of viewing platform. Two suggestions: 1 At least have a button that gives a choice to revert to the desktop version. 2 At the VERY least, resurrect the "what's new" button to save having to trawl through pages of threads.

I do have one of those revert to desktop on my browser. Chrome. The website reverted to the new look just after I opened up my original bookmark so on the chrome settings I selected this option and its back to normal again on my tablet. ,maybe check the browser as that's the way its normally done. I'm a crusty old type too BTW.

I love the App,
Particularly the "Latest" tab which gives you access to "Unread", "All" and "Participated"

Unread/ All are essentially the same as New Posts in the desktop forum,
but Participated is great -- would love to have something similar on Desktop

New posts is there - click on the menu button (2nd from right at top of screen below AFF logo) and it's the bottom right option.

Initially I didn't like it, but once I found the what's new option, I like it! Much easier to post on iphone than using the full web page!
