Firstly thank you for a very informative discussion board. It is my first post after gaining much insight from this forum over the last few years.

I am a Platinum FF and I plan to travel in Y on Air Pacific in March 2011. I would like to know if I will be granted access to the Qantas lounge. I am not quite sure what the deal is in regards to access with the recent changes to the FF program.

Is it a QF flight/codeshare or just an AP flight?

I know that you dont get access to AP lounge in fiji unless your in J.

Not my experience, but I haven't been to NAN for a considerable time. At the time, lounge access before a FJ flight was restricted to : Tabua Club members + guest, Qantas Plat + guest, Qantas Gold + guest and Business passengers.

There's a sign on reception laying down the law - perhaps a member who has been there recently can give the update.

Your right Mal... now that I think back.

I was there when husband and wife platinum members flying Y came in with three kids, about 5, 8 and 12 years, they were rejected, but kicked up a stink and made phone calls both the WP and the lounge hostess to respective call centres. All were allowed to stay. On a side note lounge opened 1.5hours after opening time and catering came 40 minutes after that. Enjoy if you can!

I believe as AP are partners with Qantas you get access even if you are on the AP flight. However, even if you’re on the QF flight, the boarding pass will still come up as FJ### so I think as long as you would have lounge access normally, you will be fine.

The question that comes up more often is about whether or not you get F lounge access, as a WP (Qantas) you get F lounge access, but if you were a OWE from another OneWorld airline, you would not, as AP are partners with Qantas, not everyone else.

If you’re flying at the end of March, so are a few others, including myself.

Was there over Xmas / new yr just passed.
Am Qantas Gold. Was flying on a code share QF flight (discount economy) but boarding pass said FJ911 as the flight number.

Showed QFF Gold card and myself + flying guest were allowed in no issue.
Used wifi, had some toast, read some mags, used the toilets ... so a full access 'pass' :D

WP & SG get access, QP only if they are in J.

Nadi - Tabua Lounge operated by Air Pacific.
The Qantas and Air Pacific Lounge at Nadi International Airport is now solely operated by Air Pacific. Access to the lounge is available to Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers and Business Class customers travelling on QF/FJ codeshare flights (only). Qantas Club Members travelling in Business Class also enjoy lounge access before their flight.

Do we have a definitive answer as to whether or not a WP flying AP SYD-NAD (Y or J) has access to the QF F Lounge? If flying on the AP flight number than I think we'd all agree the answer is no. However if flying on the QF codeshare QF391, what then?

The QF website here, with respect to WPs and International First Lounge, says:
Must be travelling onwards that day on a Qantas, British Airways, Jetstar or oneworld flight number.# One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member.
That would seem to suggest QF391 would get you access. However, the perennial footnote (in this case, #) reads:
Next onward flight that day must be on a oneworld Airline Members operated and marketed flight.Note: a oneworld marketed flight refers to a flight with a oneworld flight number, eg QF1 or AA222. A oneworld operated flight refers to the actual aircraft or 'metal' on which you fly, eg Finnair aircraft.
Because the flight isn't operated by QF (or oneworld) metal, I would suggest the answer to F Lounge access is no.

If memory serves there was quite some conjecture about this same situation when QF was codesharing with EK, with some WPs being denied access to the F Lounge even when on the QF codeshare.

It just needs to be on a QF flight number for WPs, note the # is in both the WP column and the OW access column, so a OW member would not get access in this case.

I am WP and flew J class Air Pacific to NAN in November. I booked the flights of the QF website and I was a bit worried when my boarding passes had the FJ flight number on them. I asked about this at check in and was told that it was the Qantas under carrier that they were interested in in regards to lounge access. Sure enough into the F lounge with no dramas. I also happened to see a printout in the desk that had my name and emerald status so they even know you are coming. Aldo had no problem using the lounge in NAN outbound either.

However a QF platinum in Y on a FJ flight number will have no lounge access at all from Feb 1 according to the anytime access changes.

Im flying Air Pacific in J with a friend (double SC promo)
What can be expected in the Tabu club in NAN? On the morning NAN-SYD flight.

Nothing exciting in that lounge. Basic food (no hot food), fruit and pastries was all I remember having. It does have an extensive liquor collection, but I don't think you can use it yet. It does have free wifi though.

It can get a bit full too because BNE-NAN leaves earlier than the SYD flight.

[/To access Qantas International lounges, a Platinum Member's next onward flight that day must show a Qantas (QF), a Jetstar Airline (Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K), Valuair (VF) or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket.]

It's not mentioned that you must travel on QF operating flight only must show a AF flight number on your ticket!

It is mentioned at "#" that you must be flying on a oneworld marketed and operated flight. At the very least, it's ambiguous.

Has anyone tested this lately? Looking at going to Fiji in April and was wondering about F lounge access before..

Also if you fly to Vanuatu, (which the flights coming up don't have a QF number) do you get F lounge access (even though the tix are bought through QF?)

Some may post with recent experience but if you book the QF marketed flight (i.e. your booking shows, say, QF391) then you would get access to the First Class lounge in SYD before your flight.

Note that reports also indicate your BP will still show the FJ flight number even if booked on the QF codeshare; this should not matter as the lounge agents seem to know you have booked QF and are entitled to access.

If you book the FJ marketed flight (e.g. FJ910) then, no.
