Could anyone point me in the direction on how to get access to a GDS (Sabre, Amadeus etc).

I like to see if I can find flights and issue tickets either by myself or through a host agency?

Right now just looking at flights ex-australia

It is not that simple ....

You could possibly look at joining a chain like MTA , but if you are only doing it to serve yourself they probably would not be interested in you

Why do you think you could do it cheaper/ better than the airline/ travel agent?

GDS access also is not cheap either.

Based on my limited search so far, I agree! Its not simple.

Thanks, I have sent them an email. See if they reply.

Right now its more of a trial, see what type of prices I can get compared to travel agents. From there I guess we can see.

You will not get any fares cheaper via the GDS unless you have an agreement with the airline/ airlines (and they are not going to talk to a one man band)... You then need a commercial agreement with one of the third party ticketing agents to issue for you.

Even if they were to give you access( i highly doubt) .. assuming you have no experience, it is a week+ of training for the basics

It is going to be an expensive trial

I don't think they are aiming to get a fare basis any cheaper. But some routings etc can be found on ITA with lots of time that are way cheaper than the standard searches seem to show up. And GDS access could allow booking of them, hence being cheaper. :)

Anyone can get a GDS. The issue most will face is that u less you are IATA accredited you will NOT be able to book any flights where airlines require IATA for bookings. The only airlines you can book are the ones I wouldn't send my worst enemy on

Far simpler to establish a relationship with a TA who is prepared to book from ITAmatrix itineraries... Be warned though...not everything you find on ITA is actually able to be booked....
