This thread is a place to share tips and recommendations for stopovers at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in the United Arab Emirates. You can discuss things like:
  • How to get from the airport to the city
  • Things to do (both near the airport and in the city)
  • Where to stay/hotel recommendations (both near the airport and in the city)
  • Your favourite AUH airport lounges
  • Airport facilities such as luggage storage and showers
  • Any other destination-specific tips or "hidden gems" you've discovered that could be useful for someone stopping over
Do you have a great tip that other travellers might find useful when stopping over in Abu Dhabi? Add your suggestions to this thread, and your advice could make it into an AFF Stopover Guide article!

`We had a a marvellous stopover in Abu Dhabi for 2 nights stayed at The Viceroy which was wonderful, though the meals were expensive and mediocre. lots to see and do, hope we will do it again, as Etihad are a good airline

We Stayed at the rosewood hotel . Very nice and upgraded at check in .
The mosque is a must to see and have high tea or a drink up the top of the Etihad towers. Great view !

Thanks for the nudge!

As we were only flying EY J class one way, we were not eligible for the free hotel. We were, however, eligible for chauffeur drive to and from the airport. This was incredibly well organised - get off the plane, whisked directly to an arrival lounge with a separate exit direct to the cars.

We stayed at Hilton capital grand. Much cheaper than the other Hilton, which is probably better located along the Corniche; however the capital was closer to the airport, and more importantly, walking distance to the mosque. Hilton capital grand does run a shuttle to the corniche, which we used. Had a stroll along the beach. Went to happy hour (5-8pm) for expensive coughtails but with a stunning view.

Wanted to go to the falcon hospital (https://www.falconhospital.com/services/adfh-tourism) but timing didn't allow.

https://www.szgmc.gov.ae/en/mosque-opening-hours It's about a 10min walk from the hotel to the mosque. Stunning.
