Hi,

I can't help it - I have to share with all you guys as I know you will be impressed.

I was planning a trip to US next May and looking at various options as we also wanted to do Hawaii.

I was playing with the Qantas search tools and I couldn't believe it when 2 first class seats MEL to LAX popped up in May (15/05). It was even roughly when we wanted to travel - would have liked it a few days earlier but can't have everything.

I quickly talked my wife into it (the holiday that is, not first class - she always wants that after our last trip) and booked them.

I am just so amazed and pleased with myself. The only bad part is that Mel - Lax leaves early in the morning so you don't get as much time in the first class lounge - we will be coming over the day before from Hobart.

Do F passengers get priority immigration clearance at LAX by the way as we are transferring to an AA flight to Vegas. Amazingly no FF seats with AA that day at all in any class.

Thanks for all the help since I've been a member - I have learnt so much and it has enabled us to take some great trips with more to come.

Dale.

Woo Hoo !!!!!! Congratulations.

Well done on snaring the seats - and only 6 months out.

The only priority I have seen is the flouro orange BP folder for those with short connections. (Although being in First, you might be able to arrange an arrivals First host.)

Nice work on the award seats.

Last 2 times I've been through LAX (on QF 11) there have been F hosts at the baggage carousels to help smooth your journey through customs.

The slowest part can be immigration which is before the baggage carousels and said F Hosts ... so for expediting you need them before you reach the immigration haul.

FWIW, when I did 1A on QF93 there were no queues at immigration at all - but then again I have been working a long time on the TBIT stride ... every PAX you pass may mean 30 seconds less to wait.;) (Although, to be fair, there's not that many to overtake from First on QF93 if on time.)

You scored my two seats, Dale. I pushed my booking on QF93 from 15 May out to November. I saw them go back into inventory and wondered who'd snaffled them so quickly!

That's nice - keeping awards within the AFF family

I was actually going to post about their availability - but they were gone within a couple of hours! I made the change about 5pm and I think they were gone by 8!

If anyone is going to HK for rugby 7s next year my recycled F on QF127 26/3 is still available...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I will be cancelling two F classic award seats SYD-LAX on 1 Oct 14 in the next few weeks. If anyone is looking to grab them when they come back into inventory let me know and I will tell you exactly when I cancel them.

Although there is no absolute guarantee that they will go back into inventory. Just because yield management was happy to allow P or U inventory when they were originally booked, doesn't mean that subsequent loads may have changed the picture. If the flight is now looking heavily booked, they may not become available again if yield management feel they can now sell those seats for cash.

Hi Marcb,

You have sincere thanks from my wife and I. We will thoroughly enjoy the flights I am sure.

Many thanks,
Dale.

One day they might lay down white lane markers and you and I can square off for the 'LAX immigration fast walk' :) The travelators and whose on 'em in front of you is sometimes the wild card.

Topped off with the additional aspect that at least one of the travelators won't be operating ... :p

I use the 'excuse me please' for that. :)

Wow. Were there 2 P seats available originally? Or did you have to request one?

yes ain't that the truth. You are better off doing some training than relying on first hosts. Its dog eat dog once those doors open.
