We'll never know, but maybe the "new" BER airport would have really helped bring customers. In my case, just the idea of having to transit through TXL makes me book with other carriers!

AB route network and frequency doesn't operate very much like a full carrier such as LH, with no AB flights to main european destinations such as London or Brussels.

Instead AB operates many of its routes similar to European Charter airlines with very irregular scheduling, such as offering flights once or twice a week on many of its routes.

I believe AB, should concentrate more on the routes where it can obtain regular sustained pax numbers and at the same time offer better frequencies.

TXL is good if you are only staying in Berlin for a day, the new Berlin airport is a fair way out of town, the new Berlin Brandenburg airport is on the same site as SXF Schonefeld.

I flew into SXF on Easyjet a few years ago.

TXL is OK

The good –

· not far from city and reasonable bus service
· Fast security lines
· Small easy airport to get around

The bad
· Lounges (both BA and AF lounge)
· Waiting areas very small ( especially for a a330 departure)
· A lot of remote gate bus transfers

I try and limit my time in this airport as much as possible

I actually agree with you! TXL is a great little airport. :) (Shame about the BA lounge though...)

It's sad to see the path that AB appears to be going down, but not entirely a surprise. They've been in financial trouble for a little while. Some of their latest enhancements have included removing in-flight catering (which will be replaced by a "buy on board" model) and removing Platinum benefits such as complimentary row 1 seating (with row 1 to be replaced with a quasi-business class).

My one and only AB flight was BHX-STR and was on a Flybe aircraft. Pretty crummy all round.
