Sorry all, just venting.

I love aviation and flights and travel. But this second it is eating at me. Too much, way too much. travel.

i move around a lot, and it seems the only truly familiar "home" is inside a plane. Doesn't matter which - it is so long since I cared about whether or not I knew how to extract the dining table I have just simply gone into complacent but hurting shock.

I can't face a single more dry sandwich in a lounge. The smell of a reheated omelette at the end of a long haul flight revolts me. ONE MORE SAFETY VIDEO AND I WILL SCREAM!!!!

There is no point to this thread - pure venting.

Sorry :)

(Mods, move this to somewhere quiet or blow it away - I am beyond caring) :)

Re: Cuddles for Juddles

Sounds like you need a dose of good home cooking, doing your own laundry, cleaning a bathroom or 2 and a few screaming kids with colds in the middle of the night.

Youre welcome to come over to our house for the above, happy to help you out.

Re: Cuddles for Juddles

Fair play Juddles. I do bugger all flying compared to some on this forum and I am well over it. I can only imagine how bad it is for the hard core travellers out there!

Cuddles for Juddles?
(now there's a has tag that could trend!!)

Re: Cuddles for Juddles

"Cuddles for juddles" is a catchphrase that I like!

Denali, this is I suppose a case of "the grass is greener" or similar :)

1.- home cooking - I love cooking and I hate not being able to
2.- doing my own laundry? Just having the privacy and ability is a treasure , not a chore!! :)
3.- And I miss my screaming kids....

Re: Cuddles for Juddles

I propose the mods rename the thread title to "Cuddles for Juddles" ;)

To put it in perspective, after three days in Chile I have to suffer a short hop LSC - SCL, then have a 7 hr overnight stopover in SCL before a dawn flight to Colombia, "with connections". Bloody damn LATAM with their 5'6" 787 "lay-flat" product. Lay flat if you are a dwarf..... :/

I know, first world problems and all that. But Latam have gone all sensitive new age and the chance of a drink in their fancy lounge at dawn is zero....

If you ask some of the desk bound staff in my office, they think some people are dialing it in while leading an exciting life of China this week, US next, France early next month.

Ive explained to them that eventually its airport, office, hotel, office, hotel (or office event), airport and repeat and drains you but they still think its exciting.

I hope you get re-energized soon (you can still do my laundry and cleaning though, I have home cooked beef brisket for dinner tonight with plenty to spare).

Actually there is a point.

Many people get weary of work related travel far quicker than you seem to have.

I find it rather interesting to find out what people's limits may be.

I found it wasn't really the flying that was the problem! The problem was flying by yourself and leaving the family at home. I found a great solution... these days 95% of my flying is for family holidays. Wonderful tonic! Works a treat and I can't wait to board the next flight....

Agree - leisure travel especially with someone is definitely more fun. I think juddles is also crossing several time zones which isn't fun. I struggle with just TT flying but and have been debating alternatives including work. I still appreciate the perks but just tired. Domestic flying in NZ is easier - no time zones :).

I can relate to this. Up to this year, which thankfully is more relaxed I used to fly 3-4 a week, almost every week! Sure, it brought me to the high altitude of P1 each year but at what cost... A good friend who used to be mega frequent flyer once told me something very smart: The lower your airline tier is the higher your quality of life. It is VERY true. Off course it's not applicable to those who fly 2-3 return F trips to LHR and get to WP but to those who fly regularly for work.

I find that to be the best part of travel. Not having to deal with the annoyances called "family" 95% of the time.

Hahaha, suppose it always depends on the family:D

If you just change that "office" for "****sville" then that is exactly it :) I will seek new energy, and it has helped me by making this forlorn cry out into the AFF system! Shame on you for teasing me with a home-cooked dinner....

What a cool thread title, nice edit.

Traveling can be fun but nothing beats coming home to your own bed.

I loved that new (but now gone) thread title - would have originally named it that if I had thought of it :/

Travel is fun.

No, "travel for leisure" is fun.

..... I think juddles is also crossing several time zones which isn't fun. ...

I think that is a huge part of my current "problem" - doing constant laps from Australia to Colombia means a constant series of adjustments to the time.

I have heard friends complain of "jetlag" after doing something like New York to Bogota - a paltry 5 hr flight and no change in time zone - ha! I firmly believe that changing time zones like SYD-SCL is not natural and the body suffers.

... A good friend who used to be mega frequent flyer once told me something very smart: The lower your airline tier is the higher your quality of life. It is VERY true...

And a friend of mine who suffers too told me "if you enjoy travel, it is because you just haven't done enough of it" :)

..Not having to deal with the annoyances called "family" 95% of the time...

That made me laugh nervously because it made me consider a half-truth - my family is possibly happier having grumpy me catch that plane! :)
