Hi all,

Looks like I’m booked on AA73 in late October in PE.. I’ve never flown American Airlines before.. any tips for the best seat and experience being one world sapphire..?

Also if someone can tell me which lounge I could potentially use that would be great..

The AA Flagship Lounge is probably the go to lounge based on OWS (although you can use the QF J lounge).

Until a couple of years ago Qantas Gold could select main cabin extra seating on AA flights at no charge, but ot no more.

It may be worth while paying. How much would they charge?

OP is in PE so already in a better seat. Question would be which one? (for anyone that’s flown it?)

I watched a video trip report on this flight just a couple of days ago. Like almost all PE cbins, the pick of the bunch seems to be the bulkhead seats… they offer a lot more legroom, and have a couple of advantages. Firstly no one to recline into you, which is a real problem in PE given the generous recline and fairly tight seat pitch for that recline (38-40 inches isn’t really enough). Secondly, after takeoff and the meal service, if you have a good sized cabin bag you can pop that on the floor in front of you and get a decent horizontal leg rest… IME one of the key things if trying to sleep semi-upright.

Here’s the video report, pre covid, but the seating hasn’t changed:
The author compares the bulkhead (outbound) to a non bulkhead (inbound)

Not entirely true. QF golds/plats/plat ones/CL can still get MCE free of charge if you have a good agent.

Premium Economy looked quite good on that flight report. I would not pay a huge premium for it tho.
Everything is expensive at the moment, this return flight along with two domestic legs in the states cost $9800 booked six weeks ago..

That was business class pricing pre-Covid..,

Hey guys, is it better to fly with United airline economy or with American Airlines economy from Los Angelos to Sydney? cheers
