So I've joined AA and am about to make some redemption bookings. Can one book an award in J on OW using AA miles, and use QFF membership card to gain access to First Lounges? Or can you change the FF# once the award has been made?

Generally an award will not earn miles/SC’s, so it wouldn’t matter if you could change the membership number in the booking ;) Unless as per above of course, haha.

However, you can use your QFF membership (assuming Platinum in this case) to get access to an F lounge even without the number on the booking. Just show the card.

Thanks, I know it doesn't earn anything, was solely concerned with lounge access given that I'm Plat. If I book F the question is irrelevant I guess, so mainly if we go in J.

Absolutely you can.It is why there are quite a few Americans who are Life QP so they could get access to their own ACs when travelling domestically.WP will get you into any OW Flounge no matter what FF number you use as long as on an OW flight.

The fact that its an award really makes not difference, except that by default you will have your AA number in the booking.

AA awards can be provided for anyone. There is no problem asking AA to remove your AAdvantage number and add your QFF number. This can help if there are delays/cancellations as the flight operator will know you hold Emerald status with OneWorld.

Or you can just turn up to the lounge with your boarding pass and your QF Platinum card and you will be able to access the lounge.

I will be doing similar next week, when I have a QF flight that has my QFF Gold Status number associated (as its a E class fare and hence not earning on AAdvantage). I will show my AAdvantage EXP card and use the QF Domestic J lounge.
