Booked an AA award flight on QF2 to LHR in April (F thanks to everyone's help) and although I got an email confirmation it's been two weeks and I can't see the flight on My trips on AA - any idea if this is normal? Also - I'm guessing there isn't a bad F seat but any suggestions for your favourites

Do you have an AA and a QF booking reference (PNR)?

Simply being up your reservation on AA.com using the record locator.

As long as it says "Ticketed-(date)" then you're good.

It generally will only show up if you have your AAdvantage number in the booking.

Personally - I always get AA to remove my AAdvantage number and give me the QF shadow-reference.

Then i put my QFF number in on both the AA and QF sites. The booking then shows on my QFF bookings :)

Thanks everyone - I have an AA booking reference number and my miles have been deducted from my account - if I try and retrieve my reservation it can't find it - I might email AA and ask them to put my QF number in so it shows on my Qantas bookings and then I can organise the chauffeur as well :):) and then my massage in the F lounge :):) :):)

Hmm. Even if it doesn't show in "My Trips" on AA.com, it should come up when you manually search for the res.

I would call (not email), get then to confirm the res is good, get the QF shadow reference, and get them to remove your AA number.

Just getting AA to put your QF number in is a VERY unreliable way IME.
9/10 times it won't show up in QFF if you do that.

You can use the QF website to swap over the FF numbers. Log into your QFF account, then go back to the QF homepage and click "Manage my booking".
Put in the QF PNR you get from the AA website and it seems to just swap the FF number over.

This may not work 100% (May not "stick") if the AA number has not first been removed from the booking.

But your "log in first" method may be more reliable now than it used to be.

Only a sample size of one (ie me) but if it works then it saves calling/emailing :)

It worked - the sample size is now 2 :) - I did Skype AA but the waiting time was over an hour so thought I'd call back later but much happier seeing my booking on Qantas website - thanks for all your help

Glad it worked :D

From my experience it will only show up in one location. When I swapped my AA FF number for the QF one I can now see the booking with QF and not AA (unless I do a PNR search).

That's correct.

Unless BlackCat20's trick allows for the AA number staying in the booking but I'm not sure. It's not a proper 2-way communication between the two systems. But there is some communication.

Eg. If you change your QF-metal seat selection, that new seat allocation will show on the AA.com res when you pull it up.

I would still be concerned at your inability to pull up the actual reservation on AA.com.

(Assuming you are using the correct AA record locator - not the QF reference)

Remember - if something goes wrong - the booking reference is useless - the eTicket # is the most important thing to have.

I can see the bookings in My Bookings on the Qantas website and it lets me choose my seats - maybe the email from AA was giving me the QF reference and not an AA reference which is why I couldn't find it on the AA site but as soon as I put my name and that reference into QF it was all good - so I'm assuming that it is all OK now but not sure what else I can do.

The AA reference is 6 letters. The QF reference is alpha-numeric.

I believe you can enter the AA reference directly in the QF site nowadays (if you look in MMB the reference will be the QF one).

I'm sure everything is fine - but if it was my booking - I would be concerned about not being able to pull it up on the AA site.

I just booked LHR-xDXB-SYD in F for Jan next year. Had some issues paying the taxes etc. (because I didn't read the thread on tips for booking on AA!) so I put it on hold, then sorted it out with a phone call. Took a couple of days but I got an email confirmation with the ticket number in it.

Whilst I was waiting for the confirmation email, I found that if I put the Qantas shadow PNR in to checkmytrip.com it didn't have the ticket number (of course), but now it does. So perhaps you can check if the ticket has been issued correctly that way.

Correct. You can also swap in and out the FF numbers on the FINNAIR website using their MMB tool. :)

Curiouser and Curiouser - I used check my trip and the AA reference didn't come up with anything but then tried with my QF reference number (that is now in my bookings on the QF website) and came up with all the correct details. I went back to the AA site and click on my trips - said I didn't have any reservations but when I do a search on Find my reservation and fill out Qantas and the date it all appears and says ticketed - I might give AA a call if I have time - thanks for all the help
