THE world's largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, will make its first visit to Adelaide next week – staying long enough to cool its brakes.

The first Qantas A380 is expected to arrive in Sydney on Sunday morning and land at Adelaide Airport on Saturday, September 27. The giant airliner is due to land at 12.15pm that day, park on the tarmac while its brakes cool and pilots re-set its flight computer, and depart shortly after at 12.40pm.

The Qantas A380 is listed to make a further 14 flights through Adelaide Airport after that – all as part of crew training flights before the plane goes into service later in October.

That's funny, the guys at QF said it was visiting ADL on 7 Oct.

TG
It is visiting on 7 Oct.

From the article linked to above:

"The A380 is due back in Adelaide on October 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 16 and 17, some of those dates having two visits a day."

Reminds me of when I was a little snapper and the Concorde came to Perth.

Few broken windows, lots of noise - great fun!

I must try to get out to the airport to take a few pics that day!

I'm crossing my fingers they'll be doing agent onboard inspections whilst in Adelaide, i'm due back in ADL around then and wouldn't miss that for the world.

Unfortuantely I don't think there will be an inspection. From what I've seen the longest ground time in Adelaide is 25 minutes.

QF 6004 i think it was TLS-SIN-SYD happened to be in Singapore as i landed tonight.... They must be doing some sort of simulation in SIN also, the only reason i noticed is that it was being unloaded on baggage belt 16 :D
Didn't see the plane though.

The big bugger just flew over my house, right on time. That's unusual for QF:)

Should be touching down as I type this.

I was standing at the end of the breakwater at Glenelg. It's a big bugger alright. I was going to go down to the end of the runway, but when I heard on the 7.00am ABC news that people were already there with picnic tables, I thought "No way". Had a good view anyway. More chances to come in the next month.

Came across this forum and saw that there were no pics yet. So to fix that here's a couple of snaps I took earlier. Top day.

I couldn't believe the amount of interest. It was fantastic. I think I will go to Glenelg next time though.

Does anyone know what time the A380 is flying in next time?

does any1 know where u can find a schedule of its visits to adelaide over the next 2 weeks? my video cam didnt do it justice, it was just massive, kinda surreal!
to the guy with the photos, i was prob only 50 mts behind ya!

i found out, landing 6.15pm and departing 6.40...

if any1 need schedule details i can provide them if u want

I'd love the schedule details. an early post suggests the next visits 4 Oct. So would love to get the proper schedule.

Great pictures as well. I missed it coming over the road, my camera decided to autofocus someone's head at the wrong moment. But the wife reckons her video is good, so I'll work on that.

The video wasn't that good. The take off is totally missing for some unknown reason. But my first you tube vid is here, if interested:
