Recently travelled BNE-HKG-BNE on the A350. Lovely aircraft and the wifi was suitable for my purposes.

Thought I would have a discussion about two seats which I cannot recommend being 40C & 40H. These seats are aisle seats in the front of the economy cabin. The bulkhead at this point only covers the A&B seats such that 40C person legs extend into the bent aisle.

As there is no bulkhead for 40C, the screen is stored in the armrest. This means it needs to be stored for take off and landing so less IFE time, cant watch the tail or nose wheel video when it is interesting.

40A seems like a good seat.

While on the subject of the A350 IFE I enjoyed the instrument display on the aircraft map view. I note that the instrument display always disappeared when the aircraft went through 10,000 on descent, presumably by design.

Would be happy to do this trip again in a different seat.

I too have this question! I'm booked to fly in 40H on the Cathay A350 and am 6 foot 1 so was hoping the extra leg room would be good in this seat?

I have flown 59B and 59C at the front of the next cabin. Just two seats together. Flight was Osaka to HKG. I thought these were great seats with a lot of leg room.

I flew CX713 yesterday Bkk-Singapore on 10 month old B-LRD. J Class 14K. My first experience of the A350. Loved it. Fantastic aircraft. Was a little unsure what to expect having not flown Cathay for about 20 years. The hard and soft product were both awesome. Warm friendly service, tasty food and the excellent reverse herringbone seat. 2 thumbs up Cathay.

Would you recommend 40C and H for tall people for the leg room?

If you are looking for legroom as the only consideration then I can say that you can stretch you legs in these seats. I am 6'1". As I explained in my OP the problem is that my legs extend into the aise as it comes towards and curves around. Keeping our legs to the side mostly is ok but they still get brushed against.

Haven't done these on CX, but have travelled in the SQ equivalents of 59B and 60A, both were very good, with 59B better due to loads of "wing space" (pardon the pun). Although a bit odd, IMHO the configuration of 59B and 59J seats are the best of just about any exit row on any aircraft (unless you want to rest your head against the fuselage) as you have that wing space of an aisle seat without being bumped by pax walking past (except for 60A).

couple travelling together? if you have flown CX J before and are happy with those seats, but if you haven't, I'd recommend two window seats, one behind the other. Window seats much better for controlling shades, more sense of space, and the middle seats are not conducive to talking or chatting. So two windows are gonna be almost same same in that respect, but with additional benefits.

advice taken....seats changed to15k and16k for both legs bne-hkg-cdg on the a350.
As well, we have just booked the return flights jfk-hkg-bne for 02oct18 with middle seats 21g and d on cx 777-300er.
I will discuss with mrs p as our recent return on aa73 was also a 777-300er and the middle seats were ok, (6d and g)but on reflection I think further toward halfway will be a little quieter so chose row 21 and row 15 on their a330.
Flights a long way off, but trying to get it right is half the fun. Thanks.

It's the same(ish) seat layout on AA as CX (all variants). If you enjoyed the AA seats you could replicate those on CX. Worth trying the two window combination for a flight and see how it compares. Middle seats will always be easier to get than window ones, so the chances of being able to change later will be in your favour for going window->middle.

On the 777-300 note the engine noise and vibration is significant the closer to the wing you get. This may be an issue for you in row 21 on CX.

The A359 seat map on the app shows 59A and 59C for my flight... I shouldn't trust that?
