Marriott are ramping up their presence in Australia.Latest announcement is for a Westin in Adelaide.


Westin Hotels & Resorts set to debut in South Australia
"A redevelopment of Adelaide’s General Post Office building will see it transform into the city’s first Westin branded hotel, Marriott International announced today.

The Westin Adelaide, opening in 2022, comes following an agreement between Marriott and the Greaton Group and further solidifies the brand’s rapid expansion in Australia. Currently with three properties in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, this will grow to seven over the next five years as Brisbane, Darwin, the Sunshine Coast and now Adelaide all come on-line."

So Westin's coming to Brisbane later this year,Perth earlier this year and Darwin in 2021.And don't forget also at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast for 2021.

Hopefully a Marriott CC is on the cards as well with the continual rapid property expansion, Australia could certainly use a dedicated hotel CC now that Macquarie have stopped the Hilton card.

It looks like the developers of the Westin Adelaide have the resources and will to get the hotel built.
It is a pity that proposals for Aloft and Sheraton Adelaide never went ahead.
From observation and news reports the land for the Aloft is still for sale, and the land for the Sheraton has been bought by the Adelaide City Council. Remains to be seen what use the Council have in mind for the land.
Agree with rock86 that a Marriott credit card would be well received by the market.
