It seems that seldom does a good word appear for this carrier so this post seeks to help redress the matter.
Following in the august footsteps of the resident aff cruise/tour writer,(Drron) we were heading for Tokyo to board the Silver Shadow for a cruise to Vancouver via the Aelutians.
Bris -vegas to Tokyo had all sorts of structural issues requiring Sydney or Cairns connections. There was an option ex OOL with Jetstar , and the price was extremely attractive at $550 each in * class.
BUT.. read all the reports tgh.. you must be crazy.. regular ff’ers would rather eat nails than risk this kind of torture.. (or so the spin seemed to go ).
A transfer was booked through BCT . It arrived on time and was a nice clean quiet private transfer that made the coming torture more bearable.
The Qantas club offered a fairly limited selection, and it seemed we were on our way down the slippery slope.
This perception accelerated slightly as we walked out into the hot sun and up a thousand steps to our fate in the shiny silver chamber.
Here dear reader ,reality hit ,.. hard.
A drink sir.. well of course.. another sir .. well if you insist…
(Here the lyrical language endeth)....:)
It was an entirely civilized experience, really strong service, and adequate if not particularly attractive food and wine.
Better than the QF Y+ product? Nope.. but it didn’t cost y+ price either.
For the price it was a really great way to get to our destination and I would not hesitate to use the carrier again.

Flown Jetstar to Asia for four return trips before, thrice to Japan. It's functional, just expect little and you'll be surprised or content!

I've had two experiences with JQ * class and enjoyed both, as mentioned above expect little and enjoy what you do get!

I found that between the first time in 2010 and 2012 things have gotten a little stingier during meal service, still not bad though!

It's been a while since I've flown on Jetstar on star class. I've always had reasonable experiences but it's not as worth it now that you don't earn SCs unless you get the Business Max fares, which I feel are not good value.

I have found Jetstar good value flying to Asia in their Business Class, the service is cheerful and professional. Even with the requirement to pay extra for points and status credits it is still represents good value. I have had experience in Y flying Jestar to Asia but the comfort level is designed for younger pax. Jetstar have exceptionally priced fares to Asia in their Business class at particular times of the year. I think some people have unreasonable expectations of what they get from a LCC - I often get strange looks when I speak highly of Jetstar business. I think it is as good as domestic business class and will keep it as one of my major options for travelling into Asia. And of course being able to use your Gold status to gain lounge access can make for a very pleasant trip.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

As has been noted, know what the offer is and adjust your expectations accordingly. I've flown them a few times to BKK and SIN and got what I expected.
