It appears we are booked onto the old 4 class 744 in premium economy for one sector (14F,52J,32Y+,255Y).
The seat map in MMB allows access to the 32 seats in the Y+ cabin (4x 2-4-2).

There used to be a lengthy thread on 4 class config flying as 3 class from Narita (QF21 QF22) but I can't locate it & it may be irrelevant now. From memory there was discussion in that thread about selecting seats in a higher cabin. Have these aircraft been refurbished or can you still travel in the old J seats (SB Mk1) when travelling Y+ (as I thought used to be the case - all cabins rolled forward)?

(Unrelated seat question)
In respect of the Refurbished 744, the QF agent advised that seats 36AB had more legroom, as the other seats in the row 36DEFG & 36JK were on Bulkheads and the AB side pair was not on a bulkhead, but was still lined up with them. I don't recall that from memory. Has anyone travelled in 36AB recently and noticed increased legroom? Otherwise back row may be better for the other sector (no seat grabbers at least). Preferred seats 36JK are blocked (until T-80?).

Not sure about the second part of your question, but you won't be able to select a J seat if you're booked in Y+. (J passengers can choose an old F seat, but there's as far as it goes.)

36AB doesn't seem to have any extra legroom: http://www.qantas.com/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/744ER-58J36W270Y.pdf

Yep, what he said ^^^.

Thanks, must be another QF Enhancement.
Back in 2013 (and before), for example premium economy had access to skybeds in Rows 23 and 24 (2-3-2 config).

All cabins rolled forward on the 4 class.

The E word gets thrown around like the D word way too much. This was only ever a temporary measure and never intended as a permanent situation.

For a short period, they were selling the F and upstairs cabins as J, the lower deck J cabin as W and the W cabin as either W or high status Y. That stopped quite some time ago. On the 2 remaining 4 class 744s, they only sell the old F as J. The rest of the aircraft is sold as normal.

Thanks all for the updates. I lost track of the changes.

That was also the case back in 2007 and 2009.
