500000 Velocity Points and $2000 in Velocity travel bank. How to get to Rome

Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best way to use:

500 000 Velocity Points
$2000 in Velocity Travel Bank credit

For:
2x Adults
1x Child

To fly to Rome and return next July (2018) Business Class?

I have assumed that I will need to pay part of the way but just wondering whether anyone had any ideas on best use of the above points and credit

I was considering using points from SYD to SIN, then $$ plus Velocity Travel Bank Credit from SIN to Rome (FCO)....

Although it appears that you cannot book flights via Velocity between SIN and FCO.

Any ideas welcome

I would suggest that you soon decide whether you are going to book through VA or Krisflyer as seats to Italy in j are being snapped up quickly on SQ for that period.

Note if booked through Krisflyer that as long as you area member that you can actually reserve flights and they will give you 3 days to get the points into your account.


I have just found book J seats to Italy on SQ to be very competitive at present for July 2018 (Peak season). And indeed hotter than I normally find as I mainly pretty much get what flights I want normally.


I have just booked 2 daughters in J back from Italy for 7th July 2018, after having booked 3 weeks ago when availability opened for J to Rome.

After having watched fora while, seats in J go quickly on most days.

Now with Rome also remember that SQ does not fly in and out of Rome on every day.

To Rome. I wanted flights departing on the Saturday. But had to make do for leaving MEL on Sunday.


To provide more options for return and as I wanted seats to leave Italy preferably on a Saturday, I asked what *A could be booked via Krisflyer as well. These also get snaffled quickly at present. I thought about SQ metal via Zurisch, Franfkurt or Munich as SQ was often available but on calling SQ in advance of my day to book on I was told that all LH award redemption was booked out till 25th July for the various airports to from Italy thatI asked about including Florence. Note that this contrasted from a *A redemption that I just made for myself for 2 for 6th July from Copenhagen where I was able to make a *A Suites booking from Copenhagen (first flight on LH in J) to Frankfurt and then SQ Suites to MEL via SIN.

In the end as SQ departing Milan often had availability I booked a Krisflyer redemption from MXP on the Saturday that I wanted.

My daughters are going to finish in Florence and as Milan is only slightly further away time wise by fast train than Rome is anyway that Milan was a good alternative for them.

Just booked for April school holidays- flights in/out from Rome were impossible at this late stage but managed to find J availability for 4 flying in to Zurich on SQ and then Swiss to Venice($400 extra in fuel taxes) and then flying out of Milan ( 4 J) on SQ.

Perhaps I should call SQ.

With Krisflyer you can book 1 year minus 10 days in advance. To maximise my choice I normally book one way flights as son as availability opens. So a three week trip I would book tickets there and then three weeks later book the flights back.


Today is 22nd July and so I can make bookings for upto 11th July.

However SQ has no planes that fly through to Rome on Tues and Weds, and so only booking I can make is for 9th July (for a max of 2 pax) is
