Just noticed this gem on the Virgin Blue website....

Velocity is offering 500 bonus points for a single visit pass to the Lounge ($30) which works out at about 16 points per dollar spent.

Details:

I am typing this from the new lounge which is GREAT..... a huge improvement and much nicer than any of the domestic QF clubs I have been to.

This offer would be good for any Red Velocity member who wants to check out the new lounge for themself....

Definitely worth it if you visit the Lounge less than 20 times a year. It costs $369 + $199 joining fee to join for a year.

Unless you're silver or above...

That has been my theory, as I visit less than once every month(coz its in MEL/SYD/ADL/BNE of which i only visit MEL occasionally and when i get to ADL i have no time to get in there), i see no need to join just yet. However if there was one in HBA i would join without even thinking.

Having said that - how long does this offer last?

Through 'til the end of the year.

I'm going to pick up a pair for a MEL-SYD-MEL trip in February to check out the lounges. I'll, strangely enough, earn around the same amount of points from the passes as from the flights.

If Amex gave us the points fom Sept and October that we earned for Velocity/Virgin, more of us would need the lounge. Maybe RickyRicardo from Velocity can ask Amex nicely to catch up on their backlog.:D

As mentioned in the Amex thread do you seriously think that Velocity, including Ricky, would have any influence when Amex deposits the MR points of an Amex promotion into Amex MR accounts?

If it was a transfer of points from Amex to Velocity or even earning bonus points from Velocity promotions then I can see Velocity having an influence otherwise....
