Hello guys, I've just made use of the pretty good QF special and booked myself onto an "escape from everyday" trip to the US in May next year. I'm booked in J and in order to end up on the A380 both ways (and to get my chance for two upgrade requests to F ;)) I will be flying QF11 out of Sydney and then connect onto QF3233 to JFK. The latter flight is really AA4 and unlike all other domestic AA flights I've ever been on (I'm usually going for work and end up on DFW connections to Indianapolis), it has a three class config. My question now, and I bet some of you have been on one of these flights before, what can I expect from that AA domestic Business Class I'm on? The same as what I would get in the two class configs as the so-called "First" [only real if pronounced the US way "Fiiirrrst Claaaeeess"]? I.e. inconsistent service between super duper friendly or outright coughy, delightful carb-/fat- loaded food, cheap US "champagne" bubbly and heated "signature nuts"? Or are there any differences, is it an extension of an overseas flight? Got me a bit puzzled there

And another question, not sure if there is any answer yet: I understand that by May next year, a QF flight from Sydney to New York in J will qualify for limousine service at both Sydney and JFK. Will I still get my free limousine in New York if I am connecting on a QF codeshare flight? After all I've seen and hear, New York is one of the destinations included but I could imagine that it doesn't apply if you do a code share?

I read an interesting TR on an AA 767 transcon flight from earlier this year. It was JFK to LAX in business class, so should be somewhat similar in offerings. The actual TR starts about half-way through the post and has a few photos:

I'm the author of that post ... LAX to JFK is a premium route for the North American carriers. Business class on those is a slight bit bitter than regular domestic first. That is shown mostly in the meal service, which includes sundaes, better wines, etc. AA is in the process of upgrading transcons to flat-beds on A321s but that won't be for a while. The current business class seats are recliners. FAs seem to be better on this route because it is such a premium route.

There are AA Flagship lounges at both ends so as OW Emerald you'll have access.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the advice. Looking forward to this lag now as I'm usually quite content even with the standard domestic "First" service on AA.
