I really enjoyed Atlanta! but then I was looking forward to it, and I've always found one's attitude plays a large part in determining one's experiences.

Such a shame the other half have insufficient private jet terminals...

I used to travel to Atlanta 4 times a year for work. It's a great place, you just have to look harder

Quite liked Atlanta. Took my 10 and 5 year old sons on the subway on my own. Visited the Coke a Cola home. Apparently doing the subway was a really bad idea. But we made it.

The downtown area now is 100 times safer and cleaner than it was 10 years ago...
To broaden your horizon of 'pitiful' places, you should take the opportunity and visit nearby Huntsville, Birmingham Alabama, Memphis, or even Cleveland if you have time....

Or venture to the areas around the Braves baseball stadium. I am sure you will love downtown after that. Hire Car GPS took me through there once - scary.
