4 pm AEST. One lap shootout is on. One of the most interesting events at the Bathurst 500.

Bathurst 500??

Are you only watching half the race...lol
Sorry. Old school still in miles. Hardy Forodo 500.

Biut the “fake” Holdens and Fords are somewhat of a joke. Let’s have a proper Bathurst race with all comers not the tribal cars.

I knew John French in the old days who used to take a packed lunch with him during the race.:D

Jeez. ”Supercars”are even more boring than F1. All using the same engine and gearbox with dinky car makers body shell. Time for a Sunday arvo nap and watch highlights without ads later.

What do others think about the “supercar” concept, especialky since neither Ford or Holden make cars in Australia after the TA destruction of the local industr?

I see the Bathurst win was promoted as “Holden” factory team? What parts of the car were Holden apart from the Dinky Toy shell?

I knew what you meant...lol...at least you didn't say the Armstrong 500.

Any motorsport can get boring if the same team wins too much...like F1 is if Hamilton has a "normal for him" race. Scotty is doing that now. Whincup was doing it before. It does need some variety of winners and something "unexpected" to happen to make an interesting race these days for most series.

LOL. Armstrong 500 from the 60’s was more interesting than the “supercar” rubbish. I’m sure they are impressive cars, but so boring. The last 10 laps was mildly interesting, excellent driving, but the commentary was hyped above the actual racing.

You are welcome to start a separate thread for that discussion. This is the 2020 F1 thread, so not a general motor racing thread.

The good old days.
I personally knew some of the entrants too. Phil Alexander, Barry Jones, Peter McLeod. All Mazda drivers. I'm pretty sure Barry Jones was also the first in Australia to have a kidney transplant.
Peter McLeod won an Endurance Championship in an RX7 without winning a single race.
