Hmmm, seems that the Poms are looking to score the runs quickly - Stoneman and Cook are hitting mainly 4's at the moment (Stoneman is up to 5 and Cook 2 of them). 0/36

I think many Aussies regard themselves as coming from a cricketing family:cool:
Well, I reckon I can say that with cred ;). And includes having Sir Don attend a number of family celebrations. A husband who played in the SA team when it won the Sheffield Shield and Macdonalds cup one day competition. Does that work for you?

11.2
Lyon to Cook, no run,
ooh, a ripper! Beats the bat as Cook gropes forward outside off, Paine then whips off the bails and think this might be another good'un, so they'll go upstairs to the third umpire

Fingers crossed that they referred the right one...but looks like they didn't

No, not this time, Cook had his toe grounded

Pity he's not out there bowling now, like he did against the West Indies :D

A rare fifty run opening stand for England in Australia. Just the ninth since 2000. It's also the first time they've achieved it in a fourth innings in Australia since 1999.

That's saying something about the (lack of) ability of their batsmen, whilst at the same showing just how the Aussie bowlers have had it over their English batting counterparts....

Including that same match against the Windies!

Is he the Australian sub for the match? Tell him he's 20 years younger than me :D

YES!!!! 1 down, 9 to go:

19.5 Lyon to Cook, OUT, big appeal, and here comes a review. Beats the bat as it slides into the pad, but is it heading down leg? Looks less convincing than the Hazlewood appeal, but no! It's pinning leg stump! Smith has made the right call this time, and England's rock has been detonated!
AN Cook lbw b Lyon 16 (66b 2x4 0x6) SR: 24.24

Doesn't have to work for me. Thousands of families volunteer in cricket every year and are important to the game. I am also sure they have diverse opinions on the game. I was making a simple statement that I think you have overreacted to-

England require another 300 runs with 9 wickets remaining...will be an interesting nights' cricket

Edit: better make that 8 wicket remaining...as they are now 2/54

23.3 Starc to Stoneman, OUT, in the air and gone! Stoneman's weight was back on his heels as he pushed uncertainly outside off, and Khawaja at gully scoops a fine low chance!
MD Stoneman c Khawaja b Starc 36 (65b 6x4 0x6) SR: 55.38

Not really an over reaction. And you are right. I dont have to convince you of anything. We all have our own benchmarks.

Of course volunteers are essential to the game, any sport. (deleted - leaving it at this)

As an aside, Chad Sayers is the son of Dean Sayers and Dean and MrP played several first class matches together.

Ah, see he's playing in Cairns at the moment: SOA 59/2 (18.0 ov, TM Head 21*, CJ Ferguson 25*, MT Steketee 0/19) - Stumps | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo

Nice, new highest score for him as well as 1 wicket and a catch in the match so far

Perhaps he'll be playing for the Australian team in the not-to-distant future.

Root doesn't offer a shot to Lyon and given out, but has been referred...deemed too high

Finally, Malan bowled by coughmins and slightly brings the hope back to Australia after it was looking like 50/50.

59.5 coughmins to Malan, OUT, round the wicket, and bowled! Tremendous from coughmins, and look at the reaction! Australia are utterly pumped, they've prised an opening, any opening, and now there's a tough 20 minutes for a new batsman.
DJ Malan b coughmins 29 (80b 4x4 0x6) SR: 36.25

4/169

Cool, yes it looks like it is with all he sweaters on - but it's more like 2 prize fighters slogging it toe-to-toe. Keeps the Ashes alive and regardless of this result, already looking forward to Perth.
