BA A380 G-XLEA could not return from JNB for 2 weeks while a Trent 900 engine had to be replaced.

It arrived into JNB on 11Dec and did not depart that city until 23Dec.

Recently AF66 diverted to YYR (Goose bay) due to uncontained engine falure: GP7000 engine
Spare A380 engine sent in an Antonov to a stranded A380

However the AF66 was stranded for 2 months and then had to fly back in 3 engine mode with the replacement engine attached in inoperative mode - ?dummy engine?

Whilst an engine change in itself doesn't take long, there are lots of things that can make it take much longer.

There was extensive additional damage to the aircraft that had to be repaired even before the engine could be replaced. It was ultimately flown out with all four operating (which you can tell by looking at the FR24 trace, which shows it up at FL400, with a normal height profile).
