Just returned from a great 2 week break with Mrs Shambles to...
  • see mates & family in UK (not relaxing - now need a new liver)
  • spend 3 days (drinking wine & eating cheese) chillaxing at my Uncle's country property in rural France (very relaxing - now need extra spare liver and a cholesterol flush)
  • spend 3 days in KL shopping & eating (need new home loan and a dozen extra wardrobes to stash all our new cough)
Loved..
How much shizz I got for my fat AUD
Getting back to use LHR T5
QF's friendly cabin crew
getting enough SC's to finally hit Plat "W" status after slumming at SG for 12 years
free hotel nights thanks to Priority Club points
Great service & free upgrades at the Crowne Plaza's in KL & Changi (even though reward nights)
Sitting in J with SWMBO stuck back in Y on the QF Oz-SIN & SIN-OZ sectors
Sitting in the SW French countryside and doing SFA
Luna Bar KL
Driving in UK & EU, reminding me of how coughe Aussie drivers and "nanny state" road rules are

Disliked..
LHR T3 (worse than ever now other terminals being refurbed)
Holiday Inn LHR (staff were great - hotel is a cattle shed)
The rental car saga at LHR - pickup & dropoff owes me 3 hours of my life back
Getting to KLCC ticket office an hour before opening only to find all sold out for the day

I'm not as widely travelled as most on here but I did a short summary table of how I rated each of the airlines I travelled on this trip. Obviously each to their own in relation to type of service enjoyed - I like the fun & informal banter with QF crews as opposed to the more formal style of EU crew so I rated them according to my preferred style. TBH, QF came up roses - well done QF! :)
(some recent thread was making the point about how QF short haul J is obviously diff from the long haul "true business" experience. When compared to the other OW carriers doing short haul in Europe, I reckon we have it pretty good in J domestically (just my 2 cents)

Gascony, France - a three day break - a set on Flickr

cheers
:D

In KL you can buy a cupboard full of genuine copies.....

Did HKG in Feb and in the Markets that's what they called all the knock off's.

Me and my Dad did KLCC while up in KL for the F1 in April, we went on the Thursday morning and was told it was sold out so booked for the Sunday morning (which was filling up fast) so if you got a few dyas there and you want to do it, my advice go there first to book it.
