Hi all ,
doing my first status run next Saturday - MEL -SYD -AYERS ROCK - SYD - MEL on the one day for 72000 points and $200 on a JASA in return for 240 status credits .
The following Saturday will be my second status run - MEL - BRIS - CNS - BRIS - MEL for 72000 points and $360 on a JASA returning another 240 Status credits .
This is good timing since my rollover date is 30 Nov .
I will be flying J Mel - DFW return (via Syd and Bris ) for Family Christmas later in the month as well which will nett me another 480 S/c , so that will have Gold covered with a view to push for WP
in the coming months . Once WP is reached do you keep that for a year from the date achieved ?

My Wife and Daughters dont understand me !

Paul.

You're mad, welcome to the club ;)

You will secure WP for the remainder of your current year and the full status year after.

And if you can fit in a good cheap SC run while in the USA for at least 440 SC, that will have you at WP on return home. :D

Unfortunately all flights within the USA wont be getting me any SC - Believe me i tried but the times and airlines wouldnt cooperate !!

Hopefully QF will want to entice me with a double SC email when i get home !!

I did this one a month or so ago :) well Alice Springs and not the rock

It's a good one for SC's and flights

Leave MEL about 7am and you are back about 7pm

The same aircraft is used SYD-AYERS-SYD so it's safe

Enjoy!

Yes its a safe bet ,wont get stranded - just the odd looks from the crew is interesting !

Same crew as well, which is good, as you end up with special treatment :p

Hopefully you get one of the newer aircraft which have the seat-back TV's it helps the time fly

I think the Alice flights have the seat back tv - not sure about Ayers Rock - Syd.

I can confirm that the SYD-ASP flight did not have the seat back television this weekend. As others have noted it is the same plane/crew each way. I was speaking to the FA and she said there are quite a few people who do the round trip in a day. She now understands why we do it and thinks it is a good thing.

I got my MEL-SYD-ASP JASA with double status credits for 48,000 QFF points and $299. So good I am doing another one later this month. It will get me 960 SCs and nearly back to WP in the first fortnight of my new membership year which is good when I am looking for a new job after redundancy.

The lady at the ASP QP quietly asked me if I wanted to fly direct to MEL and didn't seem to understand when I declined citing the decreased amount of points and more importantly SCs (80!!).

Didn't want to risk it. :) I had a pair of seats to myself on the ASP-SYD flight and quite enjoy the actual flights so it didn't appeal to me at all.

Well it depends of course on the plane assigned on the day, but more often than not it's one of the newer aircraft with seat-back IFE :)

I did get the same crew on both my JASA runs over 2 separate weekends, which was a little embarrassing, but there are much worse ways to spend a day than flying, eating and drinking some nice wine :p

The SYD-ASP run seems to be popular with crew as they do SYD-ASP-SYD then go home!

I actually enjoyed having the same crew on consecutive days, they knew my drink preference and it appeared without having to ask or explain. My next JASA is during the week so maybe I'll get the newer plane. I hope so.

I reckon it would be a good run for the crew. Wonder if the crew on MEL-ASP return would get the same deal? I imagine so.

It would almost be like working the day shift.

It was great having the same crew as the CSM was outstanding as was the other FA working up in J, don't get me wrong, but is a little bit strange when they recognise you again a few weekends later... :)

Yep it's a nice easy run for the crew, a fairly relaxed service, most people heading away on holidays and lots of tourists (can be good/bad)

No need to rush the service and as you said like a nice day-trip

I will be doing at least 1 MEL-SYD-ASP-SYD-MEL run in 2013 to ensure I retain Platinum early on in my new status year
