Two quick questions about travel to/in the U.S. as I'm travelling to DFW on Saturday on QF7

Do all of the 747's have decent bed seats in J now?

Is TSA still insisting that everyone remove their shoes and send them through the x-ray machines? (haven't been to LOTFAP for a while but hopefully they have got rid of this by now?)

Many thanks to anyone that can help with these questions!

They have Skybed Mark 2 if that's what you mean (although there are reports of the end getting saggy and needing to be propped up in 'bed mode'.)

'Belts & Shoes off' is pretty much a general thing - expect it everywhere.

Thanks Serfty!

Belts - I guess there isn't much that can be done about that, if they have done away with the remove the shoes thing then I will wear lace ups, but if they still want to xray the shoes everywhere then I will wear slipons.

Unless of course your airline gives you an exemption.Last trip I did not have to take my shoes off 3 out of 4 times.

I now have access to TSA-Pre lane in the US (so I can keep shoes and belt on and leave liquids and laptop in my carry-on), but like an idiot I bought shoes that apparently have a small metal plate inside the sole:oops:...I almost created a riot at LAX T4 TSA-Pre lane when I had to remove my shoes....

So TSA-Pre is great, but it's easy to get other "pre-cleared" passengers into psychotic episode of murderous rage if you make the metal detector beep! For expert travelers only!!!
