Hi All,
I have a really ambitious goal - I have a family of 6, and looking to redeem the oneworld redemption award.
I am a couple of hundred thousand points short to get all of us the seats ...
This leaves me (the first world ) problem of choice...

Pay Qantas ~$6k for the points at 2.375cpp through top up points.. Then book the flights ( I can see availability on flights that work for me)
redeem 6 x 140 and go economy.

If I go economy, I will have a healthy points balance of about 700k.

Is there a way to upgrade some of the legs and get a few J legs in ?

Thanks
Dave

P.S. PE doesn't really work as no availability on the flights I'm looking at.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

A couple of quick credit card bonus offerings could fix you dilemma.

Yep - trying that route too...
I have the AMEX referral monkey going around and around. But still not going to be enough :(

140k award is economy.......you put in 1 business class seat and it will recharge to a 280k award.

No you can not upgrade one or two flights. You 'might' be able to ask at check in for a paid upgrade but once they look at the booking class I would say they would quickly say your dreaming.

Actually you can upgrade some flights on the 140K award, but only flights that are operated by Qantas. You'll need to pay the same number of points as you would if upgrading any economy classic award booking (which is quite high). But it is possible, subject to availability and the other usual caveats.

This is done after completing the original booking, so you still pay only 140K points for the original award.
