For weeks I've been browsing J seat availability from ZRH, AMS and FRA to either SYD or MEL and there has been lots of availability of Saver fares (non waitlist) from all 3 airports. Looking just now 99% are Advantage fares with an odd few Saver fares on wait-list. I usually look around April/May 2023 but even September 2022 showed plentiful Saver seats. I won't be booking till September so hopefully things improve by then!

Has everyone grabbed all the saver seats before the points go up or is this temporary?

Damn, I hope it's just a temporary rush. I'd be in the same boat as you otherwise.

For the last 2 weeks I have been looking at returning from Europe on an SQ award. I discounted CDG,ZRH as those flights get into SIN early morning. So looked at FRA and LHR. Preferred FRA as substantial increase in taxes due to the UK APD. now there was availability In J saver every day on the 777 flight from FRA which gets into SIN in the afternoon. Usually nothing on the A380.
The day before I wanted there were no J saver awards on the 777. not even a waitlist but there were J saver awards on the A380. I had checked on the day of release but about 3 hours after the release. So on the day looked at exactly the time of release. No J savers at all so it seems they had decided not to have any awards in J on that flight. So reluctantly booked out of LHR. I did wait for 3 days hoping the awards would reappear but every day no availability at all for J saver. fortunately the LHR awards were still available.

We got contacted by our pps person today offering reservations across a span of dates so we took quite a few seats across dates and different ports as we aren't sure exactly what we wanted. So I suspect a lot of awards are being prioritised for status pax. Especially easy when no fees involved with cancelling.
Sorry!!

Well at least that explains why all the Saver seats disappeared! I dont know how many PPS members there are but if they have all been contacted and done simliar to you its no wonder things changed so quickly. Good luck to you.

When I look at the edge of the booking window I'm still seeing J savers from SYD to Europe - is it F awards that posters are concerned about?

When I looked at it last night and this morning for trip from SYD to Europe on the edge of the booking window, all the Saver swards are pulled, leaving only the Advantage awards.

Yikes - I see what you mean - the day the award change was announced - I did a few "what if" searches and lots to J saver to Europe - just re-checked - only Advantage J. This is serious !! might need to look at paid fares until things "settle down" - cannot justify advantage prices when my SQ (and Amex points) are running down.

I can’t even find a saver column from AU to Europe!

I'm thinking (hoping) that savers will reappear after July 5.

A few people were saying yesterday that at least SQ has given notice of the changes. But if SQ really has pulled all Business Saver awards to Europe on the same day as making this announcement, that's quite terrible as it means they've already devalued the program (by stealth) without giving any notice.

FWIW, I'm no longer seeing any Business Saver awards (or even the column shown) ex SYD/MEL, but can still see Saver awards ex BNE/ADL/PER.

Quite a bit of Saver J ex-SIN to LHR, but yes *nothing* to/from SYD/MEL. Although, there’s been a paucity of new saver awards ex-Oz for several months now?

Hot off the press, redemption rates are increasing.

Upgrade charts are also increasing and stopover rules altered.
It’s actually worse than that. I’ve been waiting to book a one-way CPH- MEL ticket 11 or so months before I want to fly. Yesterday there was lots of availability of Saver awards at 116000 points. Today there are none - they’re all 150000.

I reckon I'll be in the same boat in a few months. At 150,000 x 2 J Advantage awards I have just enough miles. Same going the other way with Qantas points. Good luck getting J seats to/from Europe with them. After that we will stick to Australia and drive and fly. I'm just about over with the hassle and stress of finding award seats for overseas. Up until now things were looking good for future Krisflyer bookings but that looks like changing for the worse. Any Krisflyer miles I accumulate will now go on domestic Virgin flights.

I would assume the availability has dried up because the many permutations of departures and arrivals is basically down to a couple of flights from Australia and a couple of flights from Singapore each day. If one seat is taken on one flight, it knocks out multiple permutations. And all it takes is one or two PPS members block booking a fortnight with reservations until they decide which flight to keep. It does mean that if/when they make up their minds, all the other flights will open up again. I am optimistic about waitlists coming through but probably only once the enhanced redemption rates kick in.

I don't think SQ has reached the level of contempt for its customers that QF has reached. Thankfully, QF remains an outlier.

i noticed most savers (in Y) disappeared suddenly about a month ago.

New to the redemption party but punching myself in the gut as I was browsing routes (MEL-KUL/MEL-NRT/MEL-ICN Jan'23 on Tuesday night itself moments before SQ's e-mail on redemption changes came through. There were still some J saver available (albeit on waitlist) and my plans weren't solid just yet so I thought will give it another few days. Checked last night and as mentioned by others saver column has completely disappeared, only advantage :(

I wonder if Saver will ever come back to the pool, or just J advantage available until after 5th July when the increase comes into effect. I only have ~190k points, would've been able to do MEL-ICN/NRT in J Saver but not Advantage if I wanted to lock in!
