We did this for a classic award BNE-LAX in J last year, added son after booking made. Taxes were around $25 AU for him, no other charges. Bassinet booked at time, but at 8 months old he didn't fit.

When we fly MEX-SCL-SYD, it's a great excuse for a stopover, a day-trip skiing between the flights. That is however all on LAN, so your first welcome back is a "happy" immigrations official. When boarding QF flights from LAX, having crew with an Australian sense of humour is a welcome reprise...

Thank you for posting this Gold Member! good to know for when/if I get the call. In my case - CD was going to be a godsend as travelling with an infant and this would have made it much simpler for transfers etc. So even with the above info I would have still preferred the simplicity of CD.
