Why not book each leg on separate PNR?

That was pretty much the scenario I had in mind. As well as a 5th point, only travelling on awards, no revenue fares. As well as the scenario mentioned up-thread (quoted here) I was only just pondering the flexibility of having separate PNRs but others have shed more light on the pros and cons.

Why not book each leg on separate PNR?

So the gist I get from the replies so far, if flying on points, and no connecting segments then maybe there's something to be said for separate PNRs. I guess I was only thinking of the situation where there are several days between flights.

Why not book each leg on separate PNR?

I typically book my air travel on a single PNR, working out each leg & booking online when I know each date and airport. But I find it's a hassle when you just need to change 1 element...say you quite like a city and you want to change the day you fly. Or you've booked a Y classic reward seat...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Interesting @Seat0B I've just been through the exact same exercise. Same destination, same seat wish. Granted though, I was looking late Feb into March. I found 1 CR late Feb (I think it was 25th) on the SYD-HND leg. This was on Monday when there was a huge flurry about the announcement...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

The point most of us are making is that CR to those popular destinations are rare. In your case, you got lucky! QF dropped a whole heap of CR Sunday night to various destinations (I personally have been looking for SYD - HND return in Feb/Mar next year) and plenty of CR seats became available...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Noooo! Please, your crystal ball is cloudy. But yeah, cynical me reckons this might be the future too.

Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

Awesome Ian. That's great. Daily is fine for my needs. I was going to get into coding a c# utility using the API but if the check is daily or even every 2nd day that should be fine for my needs. My coding skills aren't up to scratch anyway!

Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

OK, next question. My alerts have been set up and in my confirmation email it says "Once we find availability, we'll send you an email and then delete the alert. If we don't find any availability, you won't hear from us again. Remember that we only check for availability periodically." Does...

Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

I just signed up with a 30% discount using code LUCKYDAY. I'm keen to set up some QFF alerts about a year out so I hope their software works! EDIT: Trying to set up my first alert and I keep getting the message "The alert you tried to create would already match an available flight. Please...

    Taken 2 X QF Domestic Lounge Passes - Expiry 7 March 2024

    They're only for domestic lounges?

    Points vs reward seats

Quite normal. I'd say you're booking too close and should've started looking Dec or Jan. Also premium Y is quite high in demand so those get snapped up pretty quick along with J. And as many threads and discussions have mentioned, rather than QF releasing classic reward seats 353 days out, they...

    Cancelling lounge passes at check-in

Hmmm, thats what I was afraid of. Well, that is weird because if I go onto my QFF account and view my lounge invitations there is most definitely a 'cancel' button adjacent to my linked passes. So they clearly can be unlinked. But really my OP was asking if I could do that cancellation just...

    Cancelling lounge passes at check-in

Scenario: Flying in Y. I have lined up (booked, whatever it is called) a couple of QF lounge passes. All good. If I rock up to the check-in counter "Hey, any J seats available?". "Oh yes Mr Mizzum, I have upgraded you & Mrs Mizzum to business, that will be xx_ points." Yay! But that gives...

    Points vs reward seats

I have often found the same. What I usually discover, maybe not in your case, is that as I scroll down looking for that flagged reward seat, it's often on an undesirable flight, such as dodgy time or a flight with 1 or 2 stopovers, perhaps with a partner carrier. Else, yeah its just some...

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

Another example of good customer service...this morning I needed to ring QF again just to follow up a credit of points from a cancelled flight done last Monday (the cancellation, not the flight, lol). Points hadn't arrived back in my account. Got though to Sth Africa (can tell by the accent)...

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

I have had reason to call Qantas on the 131313 number a few times over the past few weeks. Just checking on things - a few specific questions regarding bookings I have. Some changes etc. Not only did I get straight through to a CS rep each time (no waiting, like what??) but they handled each...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Although this thread title is for Qantas newbies, I'm not. But I do have a newbie question as I've never done this before. So I am booked Y to HND later in Feb using QFF points (me and Mrs Mizzum). Last year I submitted an upgrade request. That is sitting there until I receive notification...

Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

I have read some chatter about this over on Whirlpool. I've had the free-for-life Citi card since the late 1990s. Over that time it has morphed (for me) into the Premier card. Currently still FFL but I am expecting a Citi email any day now...I guess these changes are in preparation for the...
